Negative feedback
I won an auction on some .308 ammo and have been waiting to hear from the guy since 9/06/07. Sent several emails and never got a response. I called the guy today and he said he'd check on it. Finally got an email today. This is what it said:
I am sorry but this item should never have been listed. Again I am sorry.
This fella has perfect feedback and I hate to leave anything negative, but I think this qualifies. What would you do?

I would e-mail him back again and ask him why?? Tell him you don't want to leave any negative feedback on him. But you would like an explanation as to why he changed his mind. 0 -

I did. That was early this morning, and still haven't heard from him. If he would just keep in touch instead of dodging me, I wouldn't even consider leaving negative feedback.0 -

I'd give him a chance to make it right. If he doesn't then you SHOULD leave negative feedback. As a potential buyer, don't you want to know the good and the bad about a seller?

If you won the auction, you should leave him bad feedback, IF he took your money. If he did, then leave him an F.
If he merely messed up and sold something that was in his shop at, or around, the same time you won it, these things happen and I'd give him a "C" and ask if you could have dibs on the next similar lot of ammo that may come his way for a similar price.
It's business, sometimes someone will walk in and buy stuff off the shelf and you forget to go update your auctions.
Believe it or not, people forget stuff.

Doing anything else isn't worth the trouble.
You are not out any money but since the item "sold" he will have to pay the fee to GB.
But save his email in case he tries to claim you were a non-paying bidder to get out of the fee.0 -

No, don't warn others that this person STARTED an auction, you WON it, and now he WON'T DELIVER.
From the sounds of it, the feedback system ONLY allows for positive feedbacks, because if you post a WARRANTED negative for him, YOU might get an UNWARRANTED negative in retaliation.
Ya, that's the way feedback is supposed to work, isn't it?

That dog don't hunt. Click on "Leave feedback for seller" and type in what you told us. No trouble at all. The guy welshed on the deal, without offering restitution. How many times have we seen a sellers rant about a deadbeat bidder? One I recall even wanted to sue! Where I'm from, if you renege on a deal like that, you're name would be mud.
You're entitled to you opinion, Sax, and I usually concur, but I can't this time.

Send him a bill for your time!!!! You see what a lot of these bozo's don't realize is once the gavel bangs the block it is a legal and binding contract subject to liabilities and punitive damages for breaching..this applies to both parties. An internet auction is a valid contract....like it or not!!!!
If you wish to pursue remind him that in the end he will send you the Ammo, pay the legal expenses, and possibly face punitive damages...tell him to check wth his lawyer... An auction is a contract and is not the same as a ad for a store that is not legal or binding...That is why ALL auctioneers start a sale with that "Anything said at the time of the sale overrides any previously printed claims!!! Gavel hits the block done,,,it is the same as if both of you signed your name on a contract!!!
Even that error in listing excuse don't fly in court... as the seller usually has suficient time to review, correct and/or cancel the auction!!!
That being said...I'd never take advantage of an obviously errored listing...But if the auction is legit... I'd hammer the guy, there are just too many a-holes out there wasting our precious time!!!0 -

I wouldn't leave him anything.
Sometimes as a seller bulk relists items something gets relisted that maybe shouldn't have.
if it was an honest mistake he doesn't deserve poor feedback but if it was a deliberate deception then I would give him an F0 -

That sounds right on! There should be two different FEEDBACK applications.One for the buyer and the other for the seller. You leave feedback that the seller did'nt deliver and its a done deal.The seller should'nt be allowed to give you any feedback what's so ever. He gave up that right when he did'nt deliver the goods.

I have actually had this happen. The ONLY bad feedback I ever got was from some toad (not that toad) who had sold a "genuine" Brugger and Thomet mount for HK, but when I received it, it was a knock off.
He retaliated by leaving ME bad feedback. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

While attempting to find the auction in question I ran across this Dutch auction that apparently resulted in some confusion - bidder offered $100 each for indvidual rounds.

Just walk away. You have to figure how much time, effort and emotion you really want to put into this. My answer would be NONE. The pay-off would be minute (if any at all) and the cost would out-weigh the benefit.

HobbyGuy- I am not excusing the seller. He's in the wrong. But you have to consider what you get in return for your effort. In this case you get exchanged negative feedback. He hurts you just as much as you hurt him. Where's the profit in that?

I went ahead and gave him an F. I emailed the guy and even called and left messages telling him to at least try to make things right, and he has never responded to me. The guy knows he's guilty and is dodging me. I hated to ruin his A+ feedback, but future buyers need to know his ways.
It wasn't much money involved in this transaction, but it's the principle.
I could post the auction #, but out of respect I'll keep that quite, unless someone wants to know.

i doubt very highly he makes a habit of ACCIDENTLY listing items not intended for auction. if he did, there would be a track record already.

Maybe you need to read my post again. Geez, the guy is a loser. He won't answer my emails or phone calls. He could at least pick up the phone and man up. Accident or not, it's obvious that he is avoiding me. My feedback is there to stay unless HE reconsiders in 60 days.0
