.45/.410 pistols
I got the bug a while ago and want one. Now I can buy one here in AZ (I just won't tell anyone I have it when I move back to CA[}:)]). Anyone own one?
Probably gonna get a Contender and the .45/410 Super 14 vent-rib barrel. Saw a few of those Brazilian jobbies at a gun shop. Seemed kinda crude, but pretty robust, like most guns Brazilian.
How 'bout revolvers? I always wanted a Thunder 5, but they're pretty hard to find. Taurus makes one, but I hate those stupid "ribber" grips.
What are your opinions? I think one would make a helluva truck gun.

I find the 12" Contender 45-410 a lot handier than the 14". And its a lot easier to carry. About everyone I know that have tried the Brazilian jobbie has had problems with them. The only problem with the Taurus Revolver in 410 is that it will only take 2 1/2" shells. I like the 3" mags in the 410. So as you've probably guessed by now I would recommend the Contender with the 12" barrel. 0 -
I've had the urge to get one of those things myself on several occasions, and probably will sometime.

The .45/.410 that first caught my eye was one of the American Derringer Alaskan Survival models.
I've got a Bond in .45/.410. It works as intended. A bit big for a boot gun, but I had a friend make a clip-on boot holster for it and I carry it that way occasionally, as a back-up.
I like it with the .410 2 1/2" buckshot rounds.
Not very useful in general, but pretty neat and fun to have. A good :just in case" gun.0 -
Big trouble if you get caught with it in California. It is considered a short barrelled shotgun. 0 -
I absolutely LOVE my little Taurus!
The best part of all are the "stupid ribber grips" , which deform enough to eat the recoil of my hot handloads, yet stay put in my hands, even when soaked in oil.
The no 3" shell thing bothered me at first, but it shoots those slugs as well as my single-shot Savage 24.
The only thing I'd change about this little beauty is the finish, and I'm thinking I could do that with some Krylon!
If they made one in a 10" model, I'd buy one of those for skeet!0 -

If you've ever shot any handgun with heavy recoil, you would find that Taurus's ribbed rubber grips are incredibly good.

Just do it right the first time and don't give the junk[xx(][xx(][xx(] a second look.And FYI Ruger Super Blackawk grips fit right on or for 45.00 you can have a fella make snake skin covered with a .45 Long Colt case head on one side and a .410 case head on the other in place of the ruger emblems.I'll post a pic of mine as soon as we're moved in0
