I wonder why there is a "cage" at the top of the stairs?

I've seen it in my dreams a hundred times. [8D] 0 -
Obviously, many of you do not understand the economics of wildlife ranching. Such a set-up was likely constructed by a "corporation" on land that they "lease" for hunting. Many of the "hunters" are corporate clients that are primarily "wined & dined." Hunting, if any is conducted, is totally secondary to the business at hand.
Few of these corporations actually own the land on which they contruct improvements. There are often income tax advantages associated with leasehold improvements rather than owned assets. On the King Ranch in South Texas, several large corporations have entered into "long-term" leases for the hunting rights to certain pastures. They have then, in some cases, contructed multi-million dollar lodges for the use of their executives and clients. All on land owned by another. The real estate improvements will eventually become an asset of the land owner.
Looks like an "executive" blind to me. Kinda like the executive box at the football staduim. Most of us would be in the cheap seats or out in the brush kickin around. But like they say, "It does not cost more to go first class, I just can't stay as long."0 -
The trouble is, this just can't be construed as hunting and exposure to practices such as these gives real hunters and hunting a bad reputation, in my opinion. 0 -
The only real hunting is with your feet on the ground walking, if your ass is planted for more than a half hour your not hunting your waiting for dinner to come.
Not that I have anything against "hunting" in this fashion I just am against people saying oh thats not hunting there stand is to nice or its not hunting cus your shooting out the back window of yer house etc, these same people sit on a deerstand for 8+ hours a day waiting for a animal to walk into there line of fire, all there doing is siting and shooting theres no hunting involved.
Hunting is finding fresh sign following tracks untill you come apon the animal you are tracking then taking it. Not sitting on your ass hopeing something wanders down the trail in front of you.
Again nothing against sitting on your ass and waiting for cheep meat to walk by but don't go and bust others peoples balls because there doing the same thing more comfortably than you.0 -
lol. Your definition of hunting reminds me of probably my last stalking attempt.
In a wooded area that joins a clear cut near the house here i spotted a nice buck. He spotted me also and casually trotted off. I crept in that direction about 100ft., he turned, looked at me, got up and casually trotted another 100ft. and laid down. This whole time he was about 50ft outside this clear cut, and obviously never felt threatened enough to seek refuge there. This went on for about 3hrs before he stood up, looked at me, and i just said phooie on ya and came to the house. Never once being able to get that one sure shot kill that i like to get. It was aggravating and comical at the same time.0 -
spryor, most of the people who tell you that stalking or "tracking" is the only way to hunt are the same people who ain't never tried it. [:D] 0 -
What No Poker tables ? 0 -
To each his own. I have hunted out of blinds, none nearly as nice as that one, but comfortable just the same. I used a friends heated blind with a comfortable chair and a stack of magazines on a few occasions. I have also done stalks and sat on stand out in the woods. I enjoy them all. Some are more difficult than others and it often is decided by whom I am hunting with.
I generally sit the first and last couple hours and walk and stalk during the mid-day to move the deer around.
I just love the time I get to spend out there hunting, but on a 12 degree F Michigan day or during a downpour, that stand would look mighty inviting.0 -

They have a poker table. It's just hard to see 'cause it's camouflaged. [:D]0 -
These kind of hunts are all about the sippin bourbon, Fine Cigars and who spent the most money on their firearm for this years hunt.
They could care less about shooting anything.
The bragging rights is in who has the most expensive firearm.
Now you guys know who buys the 50, 60, 70, 100, 170,000 dollar firearms.0 -
Old hunters never die, They just stay loaded! 0 -

Oh, I've tracked/stalked/killed my share, and usually have no problem. That's why this one seemed so comical. Actually, I've never hunted from a stand, and have always preferred stalking.
Now my mobility is severely limited, and the stand pictured would be more my speed these days.lol0 -

looks like a stand for a "real Russian hunt",
you know where most of the shots fired are vodka shots
LOL. Sad, but true. How do you know such details?
I watched "osobinosty nationalnoy ochoty"
and the fishing one too
the subtitles are atrocious but the movies are damn funny
I should put sometime into it and dub it. It could be hilarious. There's another one now I heard but the first one is da bomb.0 -
I actually think this is one the models of the newly proposed "hunting casas" that the INS is considering establishing every half mile on the southern border under a new immigration policy. They will be taking applications for volunteers to man these. Beverages provided. 0 -
This kind of "tree stand" kinda takes the "getting out in the woods" part of the hunt! I'm thinking that this is not really a hunting stand! It looks more like a guard tower in camo.[:p] 0 -
The only thing genetically superior about pen raised deer is their racks. Pretty soon they are gonna be so dumb they won't even be able to find their way to a feeder. 0 -

Maybe the bars on the outside to keep people from breaking in.
Otherwise, if it stood vacant for a couple days, there would probably be 30 illegals living in it when you got back.0 -
Id like to go camping in that bad boy, not hunting from it tho. 0
