Northwoods of WI

Got to spend some time up in the Northwoods of WI last weekend in the Mercer/Hurley area and it was a lot of fun. Lots of fishing, sightseeing, and 4 wheeling. Here are some pics.

This is "Superior Falls" which flows directly into the Lake Superior, as evident by the next picture.

    I guess I didn't know that you were from up that way. Next time we are up in that area I will let you know. Going to the Park Falls area in a month or so, but that is a quite a bit farther south.

    Jon..awesome views of the river and superior..thats one cold lake been there..did ya catch any fish ? if so what kind..looks like a good place where the river empties into superior..[8D] Loko

    Thanks guys. We caught quite a few fish, a lot of bass and a few northern. Nothing real big, but a lot of pretty decent ones. Was definitely a good time though[:)].

    I'm glad you enjoyed the Nortwoods of WI. Wisconsin is the most beautiful state in the union with the best scenery.

    I agree[;)]. I am from and currently live there, but I am more in West/Central WI near Eau Claire. I don't get to go up north a whole lot, but my dream is to buy a cabin up there in the future. I think that the next time I am up there I am going to tour the Apostle Islands, I heard that they are pretty neat.

    My parents and wife live up by Hayward. I spent my high school and college years down by LaCrosse. When I'm done with the Air Force, I'm definitely moving back. I'm thinking Superior, plenty of job opportunities for me there.

    I usually go to St.Germain if time permits in the summer. Walleye fishing is good there. Have been going to the Northwoods all my life. I went with my parents and grandparents when I was a kid, now my 4 children get to go too and spend time with us and their grandparents.

    My folks kept a little spot up in Chetek for several years. A 90 acre wooded plot with a 40 acre lake and tiny island. When it was purchased in the 1980s it had only a couple of cabins including their small seasonal house.Very peaceful.But piece by piece they have sold it off, now it looks like a mini Lake Geneva.My grandmother spent her last and best years in a cabin in Birchwood on Rice Lake. I have some nice memories of Wisconsin.But I do not miss it.
