GAT Guns in Illinois

Anyone ever use their gunsmith? I was looking to have a gun blued and made sure it was safe to fire. Feedback?

    Never used their gun smith. My buddy has a couple guns re-blued by the Gun Doctor. I was really impressed, they came out really nice looking.


    What kind of gun is it?

    My great grandfathers Harrington and Richardson 32 cal 5 shot revolver. Nothing that desireable but it is sentimental. I am having it reblued and fixed. The revolving portion of the gun would not rotate because the piece was rattling around on the inside. So I wanted to have the gun refinished and made so that it was functional and safe to fire.

    Finding parts for it might be an issue on some of those old guns. I had the Gun Dr add Ambi-Safeties on two of my Guns. They did a nice job. Phil's Village Sports in Arlington Heights has a decent Gun Smith.

    Might make more economic sense to find a working one in halfway OK condition on the auctions, and just keep great grandpappys in a safe place.

    I had a problem with a RI dealer who sent my FFL a total piece of poo-poo.
    Interestingly enough, I found a new pro 2A RI forum, and they all had nothing but trash to describe the seller. Small wonder. Good maving background before I ripped him a new one [and got the refund from the CC before he got the gun. I even gave myself the shipping charge back].

    I'll second the Gun Doctor in Roselle. I've seen some of there re-blue jobs, and I think they look very good. I have no experience with the GAT smith but have never heard anything good...............
