bible bashing..
Since i read a lot of "$^*)! on the moslems & there religion....i was wondering..ya know how they all are weekly visitors of the faith, to osque, temple or whatever..contribute vasts amount & support there religion ,no end...as well as been a unit in every word of the sence..
........how often do you do the above ,with your beleif???

Personally for me, I do not believe I need to go to church every Sunday and such in order to believe in the bible or to believe in God!
I will never knock those who do as that is thier belief and they are entitled to that belief.
My kids do go to church most every Sunday but not because I make them but rather because they want to go. They got invited with one of the nieghbors and now it is a regular thing for them that I fully support but will never force it upon them.
And I do not bash all muslims! I bash the muslim extreamists!0 -

I, too, do not believe that in order to be a good Christian or Jew, one must attend services regularly. Christianity is based upon a personal relationship with Christ. Judaism is based upon worshipping God and being a good citizen to the world. I am free to worship Him in my home, in my car, at work, etc.
Church serves a purpose of fellowship with others. Church can provide lessons and offer guidance, but church most certainly is not set up as a means of salvation.0 -

the early church didnt have buildings. they met in homes. and they worshipped on saturdays, the way God told us to.[;)] 0 -
I work every other Sunday. On those Sundays, I take lunch break and attend part of the worship service. On Sundays I am off, I go to church for the whole service. I donate money to the church, not a full tenth, but I do donate. I pray daily, sometimes multiple times per day, but I don't read the Bible as much as I should.
To say that one does not "have to" attend services is true, but it leads onto dangerous ground. All too often, saying that one can worship God from wherever one is, while true, is just a cop-out for sleeping late or going fishing on Sundays.
"Do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together..."
Christians are called to hold one another accountable, and to "confess your sins to one another." How can one do that alone in a boat? Congregational service refreshes the spirit, helping to heal the knocks and bruises suffered the previous week, and better equipping one to deal with the challenges of the coming week.
You may have a deep enough walk with the Lord that you can do all this in one-on-One communion, but I need to be among fellow Christians.0 -

I'm at church at least two or three times a week. Services, classes, ministry, band or just hanging out with friends. 0 -
The only thing I can think of is:
"Judge not, that ye be not judged."
I seem to run in fits and starts. I'll go to Church religiously (pun intended) for a year or two, and then I'll seek the Lord in solitude for a year or two.
Haven't noted any qualitative or quantitative differences in my life that I can attribute to doing that.

Heh! if going to church is what keeps mind and spirit together and makes a fellow better person then that's a good thing.
If a person can keep his mind, spirit together, be a good person without religion well I don't walk on water so I won't criticize.
On Sundays I go to Oakland Raider games, no I don't have a parole officer, that's only required if you sit in the black hole [end zone] and yes last season I felt like Jesus being nailed to a cross, and with a first round draft we might be resurrected .0 -

I go to chuch to worship God and hear teaching that is useful in everyday life. I am a Decon on the Board, which is in charge of the day to day operation of our church. I do this to be of service to the others and because it is a necessary fuction to keep things running along.
I attended the Men's Prayer Breakfast 1X month for more teaching and
fellowship.
I have read every comparative religion book I can get my hands on so I can understand what others believe. It is easier to talk to someone when you have a grasp on their belief system.
Church is one of the places I recharge my batteries and lay down the burdons of life.
That said, I from time to time enjoy the great outdoors while hunting or fishing and can commune with God there in a way I can not in church.
Church does not make you a better person by being there, but it does give you a chance to refocus and learn if you are open to it.0 -

I don't feel people are criticizing the Bible, even Atheist agree that society needs rules and that the Bible is a good set of rules, isn't this confused with criticism of a church.
Do we feel clergy should be immune from critizm?
My example is the Male prostitute Mike Jones who is being criticized for ruining the career of Colorados Haggard the president of the 30 million member National association of Evangelicals when he fingered Haggard for paying Jones $200.00 for male sex + methamphetamines, which Haggard has admitted to.0 -

I worship Mars and contribute a lot to this particular belief as well as making a lot of sacrifices in the name of Mars and firearms in general in form of various game and ammo. Does it count?
Some say it made me a lot calmer and a lot more balanced and disciplined...

I was basically raised in church..services 3 times a week, then
revivals, etc. While seeing a lot of good people there, I see
far more out and out hypocrites...counting the preacher!!
For now, I do allow my children to go, but we'll see how that pans

One thing I never understood about church, was how so many of them have fancy stainglass windows or golden statues(or somethings else along these lines) when it is simply suppose to be a place where people come to pray and worship God. When I donate money to a church to help needy people and then see them spending money on things like this, that hits a major nerve. Not all churches are this way, but more and more seem like they are. I do attend church every once in a while, but I should make it a habit to go more regularly. I think that the most important way to worship God is to live a honest life and lend a helping hand to others(just simply by being a nice person). Reading the bible and praying with your family probably doesn't hurt either.
Basically, the way I have always looked at things is like this. Church is the home of God, but we must respect God as a person and not for his home.

My dad is a Baptist preacher. I was at church every time the doors opened for 18 years.
Organized religion does nothing for me. But I am not knocking it. Whatever gets you through this life...0 -
