took the twins to the club yesterday
and they performed flawlessly. The Robar finished model is the one I just purchased from Locust Fork, and as promised was given to likemhot jr., but I did keep the NRA grips. We are looking forward to many more days of spending time together hunting, fishing, and punching paper. I am truely blessed.

I'm liking that table myself a great deal. I'm glad to hear about you and your son having a nice relationship like you do. Its funny when I think about my dad. He aggrivates me to no end.....but everyone tells me I am "just like him" so I don't know if that is a good thing or not.
Lookin GOOD!0 -
That's not a table it's the bar top in my family room.
There was a 100+ year old barn in my area that was knocked over during a storm. The property owner had sold everything off and the new owner was bulldozing everything under. My BIL stops the guy on the dozer and asks he if can take any of the wood. The guy tells him "take what you want just stay out of my way".
The bottom line, the bar top is made from the main beam. We took it, cut it up into workable sizes, and this one was slab cut to 1" thick, then glued and attached to 3/4" plywood.
The design and the inlay of the shotgun shells took over a day and a half by themselves. (the bar is 14' long and the shells ring the entire perimeter in the same design) when we dropped the last shell in it fit perfectly, there are no cut shells, everything is as you see it here.
If I ever sell this shack and the new owner doesn't want the bar I will take it with me and make a table.0 -

likemhot,
Thanks for the description of your bar top. Very nice.
How'd you glue/set the shells? What'd you use to cut the groove for the shells, a router? I'm thinking of "borrowing" your idea.0 -
We made a stencil for one section, about 36" long, with a french curve and the shells, then transfered the stencil to a piece of 3/4 inch pine, cut it out carefully and used that as the design transfer for the router. When one section was done we moved the template over reclamped it and started all over again. It was very tedious and we laid the whole thing out in pencil before we started cutting on that 100 year old wood. The shells were just the brass cut from low brass hulls and we just dropped them in, then covered the whole thing with EnviroTex Lite polymer finish. (there used to be a web site and we bought it at Menards). The whole project is not designed for a beginner but as you can see very rewarding. We have almost 40hrs tied up in that bar top and when it came time to put the polymer on there is no turnng back, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY OR YOU WILL RUIN EVERYTHING. Not that big a deal except 100 yr old free barn wood is hard to come by. Go ahead and borrow my plan thats the most sincere form of a compliment. If I can be of help give a holler 0 -

No congrats on the new guns, I like....not as much as a Glock0 -
I'm glad there's guys out there who like Glock's, otherwise Sig's would be hard to come by [;)] Actually both my brothers are LEO's and carry Glocks and swear by them. Just not to my liking, if I ever got caught in a life or death situation and my Sig was else where I might use the Glock [}:)] 0
