Ive been looking at safes for quite some time now and found what I feel to be a very good bargain. Last night I went to Walyworld (Walmart) and they have a Sentry 14 gun safe for $329.00 It is completely lined and to my amazement has 5, 1-1/2" locking lugs and the body is 1/8" enamel covered steel. I am going to put it on lay away this evening and make weekly payment until its paid for.
When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

Finally got a safe (Remington E23). Any advise on moving, location, etc. would be appreciated. I have a walkout basement with easy access hidden fron view so not sure that is best location. Would like to put it in the den above the garage but don't know if floor can handle the weight (510lbs). Any suggestions? Thanks. 0 -
has anyone seen or heard of pentagon gun safes. 0 -
I am looking at getting a couple of those heavy fire proof gun safes. What is the best kind to get? If there is a fire can they get hot enough inside to do any damage to the guns such as melting the finish or any other type of damage? 0 -
I've decided I need to buy a gun firesafe, and was wondering if placing it in my garage would be safe storage for the guns. I live in the Texas "Hill Country" where temperatures can get as high as 105 degrees in the summer and as low as 25 degrees in the winter. Humidity is usually around 40 to 60%. Would my guns be safely protected in this environment.
Thanks for any advice.

Just got a gun safe and put it in the bassment
I have a dehumidifier in the bassment would this keep
moisture out of the safe or should I get a
Goldenrod dehumidifier for in the safe?
How about silica gel crystal packs would they be
better?0 -
Anyone ever heard of a Winchester Gun Safe?...whats the dope? 0 -
I have been noticing alot of post on gun safes on multiple forums lately. I mean many more than usual. Is there something to this? Or did everyone just decide to get a safe at the same time[?] 0 -
well dad is starting to look at a few gun safes snice his house has been hit twice
any good choics that wont brank the bank hes 70 and is on a budget
he looked at the ones at wal-mart but I told him not to waist his money on those as i did not think they would hold up to a robber.

The article about the E-Z open gun safe got me to thinking about getting one. I've thought about it before but hadn't given it much priority.
Would youse troops be kind enough to give me some input from your experience with different safes? I can't afford one of the really expensive ones so try to keep the price reasonable please.

I have been doing some research on a new gun safe. I think I want the Zanotti one. Does have any experience with this safe? It looks like you take it in the house in pieces and you put it together. I found their site out of shotgun news. www.zanottiarmor.com
Let me know if these are good safes.
Thanks in advance

I've finally decided it's time for a gun safe since my neighbors housed was recently broken in to. I poked around Cabelas website and saw a Sentry 14 gun safe that looked good, but have not done enough searching to make a commitment on anything. Does Sentry have a good rep? Are there better brands out there in the same price range? ($1500 max) I'll need storage for about 15 guns, and plan on getting a firelined safe just for extra safety. I guess my question is, what brands should I look at / features to check for, etc. Thanks for your help. 0 -
Personally I see no freaking reason for the police ever bust into a safe once it secure unless you are dead or a prime suspect in a capital crime ...or possibly if you live in a CRACK HOUSE...Otherwise they should give you the opportunity to hand over the combination or to open it yourself....
Why would the Police want to break into your gun safe!!!
If they have a warrant....(99.9% of the time... you be doing something wrong!!!!0 -
Very simple to get in just contact the mfg and provide proof of ownership.
I have heard from locksmiths that they are easy to get into but my Fort Knox guy says its not so easy as they claim.
To bust a liberty safe you will have to have a lot of equipment and make a heck of a lot of noise! Is there enough value in that safe for a professional to mess with it, probably not. Professionals are looking for millions of dollars in cash, jewlery, etc.
The majority of crooks would not take the time to attempt a breakin to a serious safe. Drug addicts will pass, kids will pass but they may try to take it with them in a truck to a place where they can take their time to open it with a torch or metal saw. Bolt it down or build it into your home in a way to make it very difficult.
My area has a hidden gas bottle that will put them to sleep for about eight hours if they attempt to shake it too much!!0 -
Sorry to rain on your parade but watch this video

The video shows a couple of gents breaking into a "cheap" safe. These are sold at all of the locations that are shown in the video.
The front door of these safes are produced with much thinner steel!
Folks believe it or not there is a big difference in steel put into a Fort Knox, liberty, Cannon and other better quality safes that cost $1,500 and up VS the cheap brands sold by the BOX stores!!
Talk to a Fort Knox rep to find out the difference and then make your choice.
Any safe can be cracked! But it will take a lot longer to pop a good quality safe than one of the "Deals" at a discount store with a discount price!
Higher quality metal, much thicker metal, bigger bolts, many more bolts, thicker side panels, much tougher lock mechanism, etc. Its not just pretty paint that goes on a Yeager Model Fort Knox Safe!0 -
I want to add::
Most gun owners don't even have a safe! They hide their guns in various places that they are sure nobody will locate. Usually their teens have the locations spotted within a few weeks, show their friends the guns and thats the end of it.
Enter the "tweeker" they find the guns and then the trouble begins!
My point: Buy anything to lock up your guns. Even a steel Stack On or Homak will prevent teens, their friends, and most tweekers from getting your guns. If you have a valuable collection an investment of $1,500 to $2,500 for a good solid safe is a no brainer. One robbery and you have paid for the safe 100 times over!!!
Don't wait, charge the safe on a credit card, if you have to, the loss of a collection will make you ill from all the anger that you will feel!0 -
That's all I was pointing out about the box stores and their buys, better than nothing but not much else.[:D][:D] 0 -
buy a good solid fire proof safe as i am in the progress of rebuilding after a fire i will say none of my guns was hurt by the fire just my 2cents worth 0 -
I was on a call once where the police coerced a drunk women to open her safe by basically lying to her. Once it was open they seized all of the guns to "secure them". What was so unsecure about the locked safe they were in? Im sure she may have a little trouble getting the silenced MP5 back. 0
