Chap Stick. Now I'm addicted to it, but it's much healthier.

...hard candy. The habit of reaching in your pocket for a smoke or your lighter, will pass...I reached in my pocket for a smoke for a month....before it passed...Hairy gave one of the best tips for quitting smoking. You don't have to quit forever, just one minute at a time...[^]

    Henry...

Congrats on the no smoking....keep it up...

You might just want to carry that bic with you....Never know when you will need it...WHen classic and I both quit, I threw out all the bic lighters and he sold all his and my zippo harley lighters...

Well he uses a torch every so often, and I love candles...get the idea?...NO MATCHES anywhere in the house, no lighers, zip, nil nada...

Just DONT USE IT TO LIGHT UP A CIG...the cig will explode, and you will singe your eyebrows, you will have no nose hairs left (that can be a blessing) so just dont use it to light a cigarette [}:)][}:)]

Gummy bears....a pen, anything you can carrots really seemed to help me. They crunch.

At 10 days you are over the physical addiction symptoms. The most dangerous time is now for you. It is the mental addiction that will get you if not careful. You will start to think you should have one as a reward for going two weeks. At six months those urges tend to go away.

Stay away from any actitivity that leads one to smoke. Stay active in public places that ban smoking, go to movies, have lots of sex, anything to keep away from the pack of death.

    I am rooting for you!

Probably not if its the size of a Bic [;)]

Good luck with quitting ... I quit countless times until I got a really good reason not to start again ... Abby was born and I wanted to be able to enjoy her ... unlike my Dad.

My wife is on one of those "quit smoking" pills. After a few days on them she won't be able to stand the smell and will lose the desire to have one. So says the literature that came with them. I have been weaning myself some so I can quit when she does. I'm sure her nagging will be the last bit of motivation I'll need.

Good luck Henry! I quit one before for just over two years, then started up again during a fit of boredom during Desert Shield. Been kicking myself for that.

My kids will be happier for sure.

I quit in 2000. One of the hardest things I ever done. Cold turkey is the way to do it. Drink lots of water, flush out the nicotine. Suffer thru the cravings, they will go away in time.

I started carrying a "NEF 5 shot, 22 mag revolver in my pocket" Great little gun to have in case you need it.

I hope everyone had a great "Lee-Jackson" day yesterday.
