I used to use whatever logging road I ran across. Now that I'm in Texas I have to use a range and it's pissing me off on how much they charge considering how restrictive they are on what you can shoot and how you can shoot it. I'm looking for alternatives.

Here in Rhode Island there is no shooting in backyards. It is illegal to discharge a firearm within 500 feet from any road or building, and some towns have laws on disscharging firearms period. Even though I have done some raccoon hunting with my 10/22 late at night. Fortunatly, the Newport Rifle Club is about a half a mile from my home, and I have 24 hour access to the indoor range.

I like to shoot into the backyard of the guy that lives next door to me, of course I do it when he's not home that the only "neighborly" thing to do.

I shoot at a local fish and game club. There are berms every fifty yards out to 400 yards. Not the best maintained in the world but, it works and it is never crowded. All the people that belong to it are friends or aquaintances of mine so it can also be a social occasion if you want it to be.

Usually an outdoor range. If I think I need more than 100 yards I head out for a chunk of BLM land. I have access to a rifle range through my club but the BLM land is closer.

I shoot at three different ranges. If I shot in my back yard, the family that lives behind me might shoot back....[;)]

Yeah, exactly! They are helping me with my reloading and I have shot every thing from Rem 5mm to a target rig in .45/70 black powder cartridge. One guy has a 340 weatherby that he wants me to shoot....ahhh, no thanks!

    Nice place, Wundudnee!

I always shot outdoors back in Illinois where I grew up, even when I moved to the city I would find myself driving a hour and a half back to the hometown to unload with the friends.

Now I'm in Oklahoma and don't know anyone that has land to shoot on so I have had to resort to the range which is exp. and gives me a headache due to poor ventilation I think.

Here is pics of back in Communist country these pics were taken at the widest point of the Illinois River.

We usually go to Ben Avery range, run by Az. game & fish. A very nice outdoor range. The main range goes to 200yd.s, but they also have a 1000 yd. range, a tactical range, a siloette range, and others that the local clubs use. $5.00 per shooter, .50 cents to rent a spotting scope, .25 cents for your choice of targets, shoot all day. Plus an archery range with targets from ten to 60 yrds., and 3 walking paths with 20 animal targets each set up at odd ranges and up or down angles, two of the paths are on a hillside. Of course you could just go out into the desert, but the atver's will run you down...
