Mitchell's Mausers
Has anyone ever purchased through them? I am thinking of buying one of there mausers, they have some for 150 and some for 250 i think. The 150 are fair and the 250 are good to very good. Are these C&R eligilble. I believe they shoot 8mm, how would this work on deer? moose? Probably never hunt with it, just wondering the power of the cartridge.
If you had purchased through them would you again.
There are many types of mausers out there, I do not know a good one from a bad one. Are these good ones?

anyone got one? are they worth the $399?
I got my recent issue of a magazine published by an organization to which I belong but no longer support[;)], and MM have an ad, with "$400 worth of free stuff" with purchase, and a bayo and scbbard for an additional $39 on top of the $399 rifle. The Mauser Stimulus Package, they call it.
I have an old mismatched K98k what is in humble, but shootable condition. A minty one would be nice.
opinions? advice?

...They carry/sell very nice guns, but YOU pay an excessive PREMIUM for them. Ive seen Mitcheel's guns, and I don't care if I plan on buying the gun to keep "forever", I'd NEVER pay Mitchell's price, ever.
...Be patient and you can find what your after at a much much better price, gauranteed...just keep an eye on the C & R forum "trade/sale" threads, and net auction sites...like, how about starting here at GB.
...IF you pay Mitchell's prices, your grand kids will be lucky to ever sell the gun for what YOU payed for it. On the other hand if you buy it "right", you can almost always get at least your buying price back almost immediately, or soon after...with Mitchell's pricing it will be years and years and then some...[;)]0 -

Keep in mind they are refinished. Also heard that they were using yugo's and saying they were k98s. I would do alot more research if I were you. Aimsurplus has K98s right now also

...Keep in mind "markings" and "codes" are two different things. I did not see where they had a deaths head marked 98, saw examples of markings, codes; though does not mean I didn't miss something. For a genuines deaths head marked SS 98, be prepared for the BIG bucks, not a few hundred either.
...From Mitchell's I don't think you would find/get a "fake" but, bear in mind 85%+ of all SS marked items that are on the market, regardless of the price, are fake. The SS was so hated that the vast majority of any SS items were destroyed when found.
...ANYONE buying SS memrobilia that has any sense, and willing to spend MAJOR $$$, has it checked for authenticity for this reason...[;)]0 -

Well if they are turkish mausers that are redone to appear german. What quality of a gun is it? I guess that it is not all that important to have an official German Mauser, I would just like one in great condition that I can fire from time to time. Or should I buy a legit one? 0 -
if you dont care then just buy from AIMSURPLUS or somewhere and get an unissued Yugo, or VGC k98? 0 -
I've seen a few of them now, and they were obviously RC German 98Ks. Though they want a pretty penny for them they've done a good job on them, they even buffed out the electro penciled numbers and stamped them to match the recievers, which after some thought I decided that was OK as they were rebuilds and not original matching pieces when they left Russia. They're nice rifles, and the ones I've seen have great bores. The one thing I didn't like was the bolts in the white, the Germans blued all the bolts. If a guy was of a mind to, reblueing the bolts isn't a big deal. Though they might sound high now, I think if you get one and keep it a few years you couldn't lose on it. 0 -
