455 Colt Eley Ammunition

[?] I have a colt new service 455 Eley made in 1905. Does anyone know if I can shoot 455 Webley {MK11} or any other Webley MK ammunition in this gun??? Or where I can purchase 455 Eley ammunition?
Any information will be helpful.

  I do believe that you can shoot the different ammo in your gun. Dont quote me on it; however I think its sort of like the 7.63 mauser and 7.62 tokerev round. The difference I believe is the length of the case, so I think it can be interchanged.
  
  
  I'm not a 100% on this so you may also want to post this in the experts forum, and or the reloading forums to be sure.
  
  
  The main difference I think is the webley bullet has more of a pointed profile, while the eley has more of a rounded profile.
  
  
  Some people were able to machine off the back part of the webley cylinder and use a totally different .45acp case on moon clips on the webley, or the .45 auto rim. Both cases are totally different from the webley round but it worked in the pistol.
  
  I wont recommend machineing off the cylinder to see if .45 auto rim would work, but its just a thought.

  I think the Mk II ammo was simply loaded to a slightly different power level, maybe down-loaded a bit for the top-break pistols. The Colt is plenty strong for either load. The .455 ammo is pricey. If you hand load brass is available and cast lead bullets sized to .454 work fine.
  
  Many of these guns were converted to .45 ACP or .45 Colt caliber.

  Yes, you can......Hornady and Fiocchi both currently load 455 MkII, but it's kinda pricey.....
