    It amazes me how many people in manufacturing don't understand the basic concepts of Statistic Process Control.

    Sorry, not math questions here. I prefer statistics, charts and seeking out the economic threshold, but I too am bored.

    I also can't sleep and have a headache.

    Well you could always give him some numbers to find the standard distribution, x bar, and r bar chart. [:D]

    No question for you but I am always surprised at how many folks here are so good at mathematics. I am no slouch in the subject (at least not for an idiot engineer) but by the time I spot a math question here on the boards at least five or six others have come up with the solution and posted it. Math is one of those subjects that many people are simply very good at while some, like my wife who is a university professor, struggle with on a daily basis. There is no rhyme or reason for this, some people just have a gift for math in the same way that some people (like my mother) are gifted at playing the piano. Three years of piano lessons gave me nothing but major frustration.

    Peoples talents lie in different areas. I had a teacher once that was a whiz at math but it took her 2 years to learn how to play a radio.[;)]

    Not math, but as I said I was bored so I got off my happy rearend and watched the sun rise. Hoping to find a coyote off the back porch, I was unsuccessful. Weather conditions were good. Still, no wind. About 30 degrees. No coyotes around. It was evident with a couple week old calf alone at the end of the field in the fence line with no cows in sight. If there were any coyotes, this calf would not be alone in the fence line. Starting to think there just aren't as many coyotes this year.

    I did see 20-25 deer. One small buck and one that was a beauty. Probably just eight points but they were huge and vertical. Real treat to watch. Don't quiet understand how that buck could maneuver through the brush down by the creek with that rack.

    use the multinomial formula and find the probabilities for:

    n = 6,X1(subscript)= 3,X3(subscript)= 2,X3(subscript)= 1,p1(subscript)= 0.5,p2(subscript) = 0.3,p3(subscript) = 0.2

    Math problem for you to solve.
    Three brothers were renting an appartment and it was rent day. Their sister stopped by and said that she would drop the rent off so each brother gave her 10 dollars. When she gave the 30 dollars to the landlord he said that the brothers had helped him that month so the rent was only going to be 25 dollars and he gave her back 5, one dollar bills. Well, this sister not being the smartest of the bunch could not devide five dollars evenally so she decided to give each brother one dollar back and keep two for her self. That means that each brother paid nine dollars and she has two dollars. Nine times three is twenty seven plus two equalls twenty nine. Where did the other dollar go to.

    well, when it's all said and done, the landlord's got 25, the girl's got 2, and the brothers got 3, which adds up to 30.
    but it's as if they paid 27, and the girl has 2, which adds up to 29.
    I'm forkin' stumped! I went through 2 sheets of paper, moved cigarette butts around on the ground, I can't figure it out. but I ain't gonna cheat, I'm not gonna try to google it. I'll figure it out and get back to you.

    congratulations, I got a puzzler to work on now.

    The total rent is $25. The brothers paid $30 and got back $5 change. It was divided up by giving each brother $1 back and the sister kept $2 for the gas used to drive up there and make the payement.[:o)] 30-3=27, 27-2=25...the total rent collected.

    When the Landlord arrived to collect rents the sister was counting the money. Lots of money was all over the inside of the home. Ski masks were also visible on the kitchen table. All four tenants were stoned out of their minds and didn't know a dollar from a C note. They offered the Landlord Dope. The t.v. inside was on about an armed bank robbery. The Landlord did the Math and came up with this conclusion. Unknown money on floor will get you 10-20 yrs...

    bell. Then by triple integration calculate the volume of the shell.
    Take into account a repair, 5/16" dia x.015" deep uniformly tapered where someone polished out a dent at the apex of the bells'torroid.
    Temperature will be 110f so take into consideration volumetric expansion.
    Measurements were made at 27f.

    all right, explain this:

    say you're one of the brothers. you got ten bucks in your pocket. you give it to that chick. so all three of you paid 30 bucks total.

    she comes back later and says, here's a buck back. you paid 9.

    so, all three of you guys put together paid 27, and she's still got 2, which adds up to 29.

    how's that possible?!? that's the problem. where's the extra dollar??

    25+2=27...27+3=30

    I don't know if this thing can be worked out. I remember coming across this problem before, but I cannot remember what the answer ended up being. [?][?][?]
