Has anyone else noticed that deer corn is getting very pricey. What's a bag go for in your area?

We just get pemission from the landowners around here and walk the fields after they pick the corn. Almost always some ears lying around that the combine missed.

Last time I bought some corn it cost me $5.75 for a fifty pound bag.

Wal-mart is a rip-off, they sell 40 lb. bags for more than that.

The CBOT price of corn is roughly double what it was two years ago.

to save the planet we are taking food and making fuel out of it. This is done to keep Al Gore happy as he flies around in a private jet telling you to ride a bike and live in the cold dark.

The drought in Ohio has some crop areas looking pretty grim for a good harvest.

deer corn is/can be use in corn stoves for heating also, may be why the price is going up as people stock up for winter.

I cheat and hunt on the edge of the cut fields. It's cheaper and I can use the farmers' "nuisance tags"![:D]

When I was living in SC we had a place where we could get 55 gallon drums filled for $25. We all had 4 of them and that would last most of the season.
I saw $5.49/40# the last time I was in WalMart. It always makes me wonder why they sell it when it is illegal to hunt over bait in GA.

All we have aroud here is sweet and field corn. A few of the specialty farmers grow indian corn also. I've never seen deer corn.
On a side note, I think that baiting for deer is ethically wrong. To each there own though.
