Just a quick question
Does your auto loader take a clip or Magazine. My Brother asked that question on another board and some of the smart butts tried to make fun. I sent him the answer to post so I just thought I would ask here. It's just a question and most will know but some will not and that's how others find out.[:D][:D][:D][}:)]

I'm sure that, historically, some(pistols) have used clips, but I don't know of any.
Magazines seem to be the current preference for pistols.

A "CLIP", is a device used to load the "magazines", in weapons so equipped.

Here's the definition:
A clip is a device that is used to store multiple rounds of ammunition together as a unit, ready for insertion into the magazine of a repeating firearm. This speeds up the process of loading the firearm as several rounds can be loaded at once, rather than one round being loaded at a time. Several different types of clips exist, most of which are made of inexpensive metal stampings that are designed to be disposable, though they are often re-used.
The term clip is commonly but erroneously used to describe a firearm magazine, generally a specific type of magazine known as a detachable box magazine, or even a firearm belt. These uses of the term are incorrect; a clip is typically used to load a magazine, while a magazine or a belt is used to load cartridges into the chamber of a firearm. -Yeah, I was going to say that the broom-handled Mauser pistol, which I believe most commonly fires the 9x25 round, is probably the best known example of a pistol that is loaded with a clip, the magazine being integral with the design. If you are a western movie fan, this is the pistol that one of the bad guys carried in the Clint Eastwood movie, Joe Kidd.
By the way, this 9x25 round, a.k.a. the 9mm bottleneck cartridge, is still in service in the "Eastern Bloc" countries in Europe. The CZ 52 service pistol that has shown up on the surplus market and I think the Russian Tokarev pistol fires it and the round has seen service in many submachine guns. I don't know what the specifications are on this cartridge, but after firing it, it seems to me to be a pretty hot, high velocity round.0 -

Right sarge but those clips are for a Garand I think. I can't recall any other firearm that uses something similar. The Garand clip stays put until empty and then ejects. Most fixed magazine firearms that use clips are pretty much the same, a straight device that "stacks" and holds rounds that are then inserted into a slot allowing the rounds to be pressed into the magazine, the "clip" then either being pulled out or ejected on bolt closing. I know I don't need to tell you all this but someone may read this that needs the info. Oh, forgot to say the C96 Mauser was 7.63X25 not 7.62. It also was made in 9X19, that's why you see some with a big red 9 on the handle to indicate 9MM. 0 -
An SKS uses stripper clips,they hold 10 rounds and do not stay in the rifle.[:)] 0 -
Most rifles, such as Mausers and Mosin Nagant, use stripper clips.
A stripper clip is about 3/8 inch wide, and 2 inches long and 1/8 inch thick, it is a small little thing. It has little grooves on either side into which 5 cartridges fit.0 -
