Beretta 84fs Cheetah (nickel)
I really like the looks of this Beretta and like the double stack mag. I keep looking for a good used one at a reasonable price
but, nothing. Prices I see (on the net) for new ones are out of my reach.
Is this a highly sought after model, or what? Also, would this be a good CCW?

They are excellent. I have had one for years and my wife carries one for CCW loaded with Golden Sabers. How much are you looking to spend? I see used ones from time to time in the gun shops around here. 0 -
I have a very high opinion if the Beretta 84. Ever since my Sig went south either of my two Berettas havebeen my main CCW. I also have a model 85, the 8 round, single stack magazine brother to the model 84.
The 84 is a nice size for my hand. It's a full grip and that's one reason this is a very easy and controlable gun to shoot well. It is a natural pointer. Recoil is mild, accuracy is top notch. There are no minus to this gun other than maybe the width. That full grip comes to 1 1/2" wide. I have no problem hiding it now. but in the summer it prints more readily under a light Hawaiian shirt.
I have four guns that have never ever missed a call to action. Two HKs (man they're good guns), and my two Berettas. Very dependable, very accurate, light weight (same as a Bersa Thunder), 13 + 1 rounds, great ergonomics and it's a classic beauty on top of it all.
I've seen used around $500, new over $600...get a price check on the three big gun sites and go for it.0 -
+1
I bought one for the wife but I've been carrying it more than my GP100. After 2000+ rounds through it, not one problem. It's nice and light, the decocker and firing pin safety are nice features. Loaded with a top-rated self defense round of your choice, it makes a great CCW!
MSRP went up to $725 on this model, availability seems to be nill everywhere I've checked lately.0 -
Buy it now on this NIB one is $549.00 :

There was a big writeup praising the 84fs Cheetah in last month's Guns & Ammo mag so I'm sure a lot of sellers are capitalizing on it. 0 -
Darn. I thought I had all the purty guns I'd want. That's cool. 0 -
I carried and still own an 84W, for a couple years. Great little gun. You'll enjoy it. Very reliable. 0 -
If you don't mind a used blued one, there are two at the local gun shop. Both are used but like new. Think they wanted $350.00 each for them. 0 -
I have the 84f and I think they are one of the best .380 pistols you can have. Bought mine about 5 years ago. Whenever it decides to finally jam, I will let you know. 0 -
I had one and really liked it. I sold it to get a 92F Stainless Inox as the Beretta was the preferred duty gun where I was at. That is one of the guns I am sorry I sold. Had a Beretta 70S .22 that was great too. 0 -
What is the difference in the 84 and 85? Is it one has a single stack mag and the other has a double stack mag. Are there any other differences? 0 -
84 has a double stack 13 round mag (10 rounds still in some places) and the 85 has a single stack 8 round mag. Don't know of any other differences. 0
