All 6 of my RIA's hit piont of aim at 20 yards from a rest!

Any that I am off while shooting is my fault and not the guns!

How do you make it accurate?"...#1. TRIGGER, #2 BARREL/SLIDE/FRAIM/BUSHINMG...A PISTOL THAT WILL SHOOT 1" 50 YRD. GROUPS FROM A REST BUT WITH A GRITTY 8# TRIGGER PULL WILL NOT BRING HOME ANY GOLD (OR SILVER, OR BRONZE)

The barrel to bushing fit is a key element as well as the lock-up at the link. Both of these adjustments can be made with the purchase of a matched barrel and bushing set and a couple of basic tools. The slide to frame fit I would consider secondary, but also pretty important. Brownells has a tech tips link on building and adjusting the 1911. I built one from the ground up and accurized a half dozen or so to date and they all shoot as good as a top notch Kimber except the ground up model which shoots as good as a Les Baer. Once you have the tools and the knowledge you can make a really good 1911 out of a cheap shot out used gun from the bargain bin for a few hundred bucks and some time.

Long ago they had an article in the American Rifleman about some simple things you could do to a G.I. .45 that cost almost nothing & were of great help.
Two of the simplest were a replacement bushing & just fitting it with emery cloth. The other may make people cringe but it worked. That was to GENTLY tap the frame on the sides with a lead hammer until you got rid of the slop. I don't recall the others but I tried them all on my
$17 1911 & while it didn't become a target pistol it sure shot a lot better.

Easiest way is to sell the 1911 and buy a Sig P220 SAO.
