Glock
Is this possible?-(read it on a 1911 forum)
I like the 1911 so none of that is a cut . Now for a side story , A friend is a cop and he and his dept love the Glock. His one complaint was in a struggle (fight) a cop hit a bad guy with his Glock and the slide came off the frame . Now I wonder if a 1911 has ever been used to whack someone and the slide fell off ? I doubt it also.

I have a Glock 17, and the storage containershows on the label that it contains 1Magazine, why did Glock do this, anddoes one magazine mean a 17 round, and commerial mean a 10 round mag. 0 -

I was just reading an article about a guy who bought a early gen 2 glock. he said it was his daily carry gun and he had put 30,000 rounds throught it. It was looking really beat to hell, so he sent it back to glock to have it refinished. He went on to say that it took less than a month, and when he got it back the only old parts on it were the barrel, slide and frame. they did all that for 60 dollars including the refinishing.

my side of the story I have been buying magazines ( the 33 round and 50 round drums and 17 round standard magazines I even bought a few more tonight on sale ) for a pistol I do not own [:I] working backwards but waiting on a good deal on a model 17 to come along I will have the magazines covered [:I][:I]
I am sure I am not the only one who has done such , I have also bought ammo and then find a gun to fit it .. dang this gun thing is contagious [:D]

i was looking at .357 security six ruger as my next gun, and i could even carry it on duty if we go g licensed, but im kind of leaning towards either a glock 17 or a glock 19. If we go g licensed where i work, we have to carry either a 9mm, .38 or .357 with .38's in em. if it was up to me i think i would want a .40. 0 -

When they first came out I tried one and admittedly is was accurate and fed the two mags I went through flawlessly. Since then I have seen three of them blow up at our range in two years (not 9mm). Add that with my experience for a plastic compnay which I learned of "shelf life" and that is how I have my opinion of Glocks. I have some friends that swear by them. But my opinion differs from theirs. 0 -
I have had about 10 Glocks. Now I have a model 23, 35, and a 27. They are excellent guns. Most Glock-haters have never owned one. Every great idea has been ridiculed at some point. 0 -
You are aware that that would mean shooting 10 rounds oer day, seven days a week, for 8,2 years!! I do not believe any part of this story.
Buy a Ruger K944 and you will have a superior weapon with a great list of options and you will save a fortune.0 -
30,000 rounds is nothing, i do that in six months, my g34 i competed with last year i put 19,000 rounds through in just a few months, you cannot tell by looking at it{ not 1 malfunction}, kimber 1911 will show wear at 50,000, wilson combat will show wear at 500,000, i have in excess of 50,000 through mine, and it is as tight as the day i bought it, and just as accurate
to answer the original question
i posted about it last month, but i had a fellow competitor who had a double charge in his glock, it did a number on it, he called them told them what happened, he sent it in they returned it in time for il state championship, it took less than a week, and charged him 57 bucks, everything inside was brand new including the barrel0 -
I believe it is Chuck Taylor (a gun writer for you youngsters)that has put in excess of 150,000 rounds through a Glock 17. There is an article out there somewhere I have read...I believe it was in a Combat Handgus article 4-5 years ago.. 0 -
That is nothing for a glock
I have seen a glock with 750,000 rounds though it. still worked fine also, and still met accuracy requirements for Dept
It is also not alot for a nice 1911.
There are lots of shooters that put 10k a year thru a competition gun, and glocks are certainly at the top of off the shelf guns that can do that.

Glocks are fine pistols. At my local range the owner said her rental glock had ovewr 100,000 rounds through it before it finally had any problems.

or shooting 500-700 rds every other weeked or so for a year
lots guys do that, never met one that does it with a ruger (they are fine, just not in the glock catagory for competitors)

Sent a Glock 19 Gen 2 that had a cracked frame back to Glock for a customer to have the frame replaced. Cost $43. took less than a month and when it arrived it had a Gen 3 frame and EVERY part of the pistol had been replaced except the barrel and slide. They did forget to send the mag back with the gun, but a quick call and a new one arrived in a couple days, no questions asked. I'd say their CS is top notch.
