I still don't get it.
Remington 7615
It seems that a lot of time that it is next to impossible for a large corporation to change. Many times, people working in corporations are afraid of change. I see it at work. I saw it at my previous employer. Things are working well by doing the same thing we did last year, so why change. There are a multitude of people more than willing to inflate the potential risk and deflate the potential reward. Sometimes I find it amazing that any innovation can come out of a corporation. Then something like the Remington 7615 comes along.
What the heck were these guys thinking when then decided mass produce this thing? $750. Are you kidding me? What really shocked me was that I saw three of these at a show today. Three different guys had one for sale!?!? It's a pump rifle that takes an AR clip. Pump. Why? At $750 you can find an economically priced Bushmaster. At $750 I suspect you can find a nice Ruger Mini-14. Both are semi-auto and not a pump. Heck, for $750 you can probably find a short barrel lever action Browning in a .223.
It shocks me that a corporation could think there is demand for such a thing. Were was the bozo that is afraid of introducing a new product? Where was the guy that says, "You know, we're doing pretty good with the 700. Why take the risk with introducing a new rifle?"
Would police departments buy this over an AR? Would prisons buy this over anything semi-automatic? I just don't see any demand at that price.

I'd consider one in 308 or 762x39... FAL mag or AK mag...
Of course for some it is a high capacity non-semi auto rifle - there maybe places where that would be the "only" choice...0 -

'cuz it's something different. I think it would be a great idea, if it was priced about 400$ and the mag well and forestock weren't so dang ugly. a .308 that used M14 or HK-91 mags would be nicer. 0 -

The rifle was designed for law enforcement, maybe for the purpose that you just don't bust in when serving a warrant and start tearing the place apart with just the squeeze of the trigger.
I have one customer who will only shoot pump guns and he has bought one of these. He loves it.

I think that rifle was produced mainly for police departments who wanted to equip their officers with rifles with a minimum of training, since the officers would already be familiar with the Remington 870 shotgun, and this gun has basically the same feel and same controls.
It is, however, about $400 overpriced and ugly.0 -
It was designed with law enforcement in mind. A lot of depts are going to patrol rifles and this operates similarly to the Remington 870 shotgun cops have been using for decades. Thus, there is not much training needed. Plus it gives cops a much longer reach than the shotgun does, without going to an non-PC AR type of rifle. And yes, there is a collapsible stock made for 7600:
