Should I re-barrel my....

Remington Mnt. .270 Winchester to .25-06 or no? When I originally bought the rifle, I was looking for one chambered in 25-06(knew they didn't make them anymore, but was hoping anyway), but couldn't find one and settled on the .270. I like the .270 Winchester, but from the little bit I have handled and shot my father's .25-06, I love that caliber. I know that the .25-06 gives a lot up to the .270 in the big game catergory, but it gains it back when it comes to smaller game. I have a few larger caliber rifles that will handle all of my big game needs and a .223 for the small game, so basically I will be using it to carry with me on the "back forty" as my workhorse rifle for deer and coyote. I do not want to buy another rifle because I love the feel and handle of the Remington Mountain rifle, so what say you guys? Can anybody talk me in or out of this?[:D]

    Look at a 6MM BR or Dasher and you will ferget the 25-06.

    Sounds to me as if you already have you mind set on what you want to do. It's your rifle do as you think will make you happy.

    Oh, when I get the chance and work becomes less hectic here in late January and February I have a 6mm project that I want to start. Overkill yes, but I would like to start on a .244 H&H Magnum if I can find a used or even new and cheap H&H length action to work off of.[:D] Maybe somewhat of a waste of time to some, but really going to be a fun project once I get started(money permitting I guess).

    Alright, I already talked myself out of it. Gun shoots too good to change anything with it.

    If you want a 25-06, then go buy a 25-06, why take apart a good shooting 270 when you have an excuse to buy another gun.
