This Microsoft Virtual Earth program is really fun. www.maps.live.com
Simple and fast. A lot easier then Google Earth. When I was young I used to go out to an old location in the desert where the Army held manuevers during WWII. You could see where they had their tents layed out by the rocks lined up. I used to find belt buckles, buttons, razor blades, etc. Anyway, as time went on, I forgot the exact location. I am now about 900 miles from this site and with this Live search program, I was able to scan the desert and locate where the emcampment was again. I could zoom in to a width of 40 yards and see outlines of rocks lined up in rows where the soldiers had made their tent city and where I had walked when I was young......awesome. [:)][:)]
You can switch from Road maps to aerial or hybrid where it shows roads and aerial maps and road names combined.
I've also used this program to scout out where I am going to hunt and it's great!!
Just a note...I don't know how up to date the photos received is because some of the locations I looked at appeared to be behind the times a little. For instance, when I looked at my brothers farm down in the desert, the cotton ground was being listed. In reality, the lettuce crop was being harvested....months apart. [:)][:)]
So, the photos may be months or even a year or so behind times....

I just checked on some property my club bought a year ago and started to develop. The new work is not noted here, I believe the maps we are looking at here are are over a year old. Great link, thank you 0 -
Rider, Thanks for the link, the pics are quite a bit newer than the ones on google earth. These were taken about a year and a half ago while the google pics were done closer to 4 years ago. I'll have to mess with this more when I have more time. 0
