Mail Service...GRRR

Got it today. An order, with a check and FFL for a gun sold at auction. The auction ended 4-1-07. The postmark on the envelope is 4-2-07. It arrived on 4-25-07. Nowhere near a record, but sad service to be sure.

Some months ago I had an order I sent to Kansas go missing for 6 weeks before it was finally delivered.

    I've got one to add:

    This morning I had a package to pick up. I waited in line for over an hour while the postal worker at the counter figured out how to turn her console on.

    I'm not talking a computer glitch or system crash... she didn't know where the "On" button was.

    The last gun I sold, the payment came in this plastic "bag/envelope"
    The buyers envelope & MO were torn in two pieces[V]
    But it did arrive in about 4 days[xx(]

    Its not a common thing....and with the amount of things they handle its very hard to be too upset with the postal guys. I am glad to hear you finally got it. What did the seller say about the lost mail? I hope they understand it was out of your control.

    hmmmm......

    'round here the PO failed to deliver three packages (packages, not letters) in the same week. All of them originated from different post offices, so it was almost certainly my local YAHOOs that messed up.

    Nothing of great value, but one package contained goods that are irreplaceable.

    That was last September (my birthday was a little sparse) and I still haven't seen the packages, so I don't suppose I will.

    Oh, and I had to complain to USPS central before my local postmaster even bothered to return my phone call.

    I'm almost willing and probably will hire an attorney for $300hr just to put a little scare into them. Although it probably will not help.


    I have contacted my congressman in the past about the missing SOF mags and about the "thumb-printed" and torn SGN mailers in the past. Oddly enough when I contacted him about the late arrival of SGN; and the point made that wal-mart (not now) and other produce stores had the mags on time and I did not; he actually took care of it. My 1st, 10th, and 20th issues all arrived on the same date. [8)] this tells me that some liberal 'bundle of sticks/ british idiom for cigarette' was either throwing them away on purpose or finally decideing to deliver them after he fliped through it.



    I think I have to contact him again cause only my gun related magazines and mailers have rough handle and or damage, while mags of equal or greater size do not. [:(!]



    In some cases even when the package it not worth that much [always when it of great value], I send it certified mail with return receipt; and or priority mail so I can have a way to have a better handle on it if some crap like this occurs. Hopefully; Nunn, this is a fluke and will not cause you much heartache in the future.

    Forgot to add: I often use that tape that is very difficult to tear by hand and requires a knife/ similiar tool to do it.

    I also let my buyer know of this a often take pics of the package and send it to him incase he tries to blame me of it.

    I sent out a payment for an auction that ended in february. It never showed up So after checking on iy I sent out a replacement payment 3 weeks ago. At the same time I mailed out 2 other payments. one got there in 2 days the other got there Tuesday one is still a no show.
    I shipped off a CA Explorer II barrel it never showed up I sent a replacement barrel and filed for the insurance The replacement disappeared as well I have Del Con papers showing them going into the system and never being seen again. And the post office still won't pay the insurance claims

    I was at the local gun shop yesterday and he was complaining about the USPS. Seems he shipped a rifle through them about 3 months ago and as of 6 weeks later it had never showed up at the receiving FFL's. So he called ATF to report a lost gun. Then somehow all of a sudden the rifle showed up. Hmmm.
