Been a couple of years now since this video has made the rounds here, but can still be an eye opener.

One way or another, seeing stuff like this tends to make people pay attention to the design and condition of whatever carry gear they're using.

    I dont like the inconsistant draw from those.
    Blackhawk sepras are very good
    Fobus also scratched a 1911 I have. If there is any grit and you stick a polished finish, it can leave a mark much easier than a leather one.

    funny. never seen this before but that's the first thing i thought of after i got a couple of Fobus holsters. moved on to Black Hawk for now.

    total bs, they are very well made and would rip your pants off first, you couldn't break one with your bare hands if you wanted to, i think that was a competitors propaganda

    a friend of mine showed me that same video, i handed him one to try it, he then agreed with me, i have 5 of them, but i did quit using them for competition because i like a different angle than they offer, that video is staged 100%

    i know a guy who used to use fobus and they do wear out... finally the seatbelt caught it one day when he was getting out of his car and it broke. his gun is so scratched up from that thing too.. my boyfriends gun never got scratched up by his but he has switched to using a ctac which has proved to be very practicle.

    Did he try it with the holster on your belt, with a red gun in it using the gun's grip for leverage? It happens just like that video shows, you can rip them right apart. I have done it in firearm classes I teach.

    sure did, so you destroy a 20 dollar holster each class?[;)]

    even if it did happen for the sake of argument, it would be easier and faster just to remove the gun in the first place, fobus, and similar holsters should not be worn exposed anyway, if someone is yanking off your holster you have more issues than a holster breaking

    No, not in each class:) Just a few times when someone bet someone else that their holster is the best new gizmo. Saw it done the first time by another instructor after one of his students bet him it could not be done. He put a red gun in the guy's holster, grabbed with both hands and twisted out and down hard, and had the whole thing in his hand minus the paddle. Then we tried it with a leather holster and no one could do it. Edit: I have only seen it done to the paddle holsters, they are just held together by a few rivets at the top. Don't know about the other types.
