Cool website. Use this site in conjunction with that one http://www.measuringworth.com/ppowerus/ some things today are not as bad as a lot of folks tend to believe (money wise).

    A gallon of milk in 1960 .48, equivalent price in 2006 $3.34
    A gallon of gas in 1960 .31, equivalent price in 2006 $2.11
    A dozen eggs in 1960 .57, equivalent price in 2006 $3.88

I noticed a very disturbing trend:

    1967:
    New home: 24,600
    Income: 7,143
Divide the two together and you get: 3.44

    1977:
    New Home: 54,200
    Income: 13,572
Divide the two together and you get: 3.99

    1987:
    New Home: 127,200
    Income: 26,061
Divide the two together and you get: 4.88

    1997:
    New home: 176,200
    Income: 37,005
Divide the two together and you get: 4.76

    2007: In socal
    New Home: 500,000
    Income: 50,000
Divide the two together and you get: 10

Very interesting precentage differance between what you make and what it will cost you to buy a house, or shall I say, who is going to be able to buy a house in the next 10 years?
