3 gun advice (SU-16)

OK guys, as some of you know I have recently started shooting 3 gun so I am trying to put together a nice package that is CA legal. I have been shooting Laredo Lefty's Pre-Ban AR's and I really love them, But I am very limited to what sort of AR I am able to purchas. The big thing with the CA AR's is that they have an internal fixed 10 rd mag. You have to break open the rifle to reload, that is a bit slow in the middle of high round count stage. So the options get narrowed down to a SKS, Mini-14 or a Kel-Tec SU-16. I would love to do the SKS but it is slow to load with stripper clips. I have had a Mini and I prefered my old SKS.
So what about the Kel-Tec?
Do any of you guys have a SU-16?
How would you compair it to a Mini-14?
Do you think a SU-16 would work well in 3 gun?
Can you think of any other CA legal rifle that would work well?

I know what most of you guys are thinking, "Just move out of CA and buy what you want". That is in the long term plans, but I want to play now.

    Bryant... no need to leave the state. I have an SU-16 you can try out. I will bring it to the next match at West End. A nice feature of the SU is it uses AR mags.

    Mine prefers the polymer mags ( Isreali Orlites & Canadian Thermolds)of which I have plenty. Just bring some ammo and you'll be set.

    Joe, You know your the greatest, I'm just brain storming right now, It'll actually be a while till I can afford to buy one. It looks like I'm going to have to buy a new washer and drier as the old drier just conked out. The washer has been giving fits and it is over 13 years old so I might as well replace them as a set, so much for gun money[:(]

    But I am still looking for other ideas, just for the sake of having ideas[;)]
