money for blood

anyone here ever give blood? do they pay you or is it considered a donation? there is a gunshow this weekend and i need a few bucks.

    I haven't received money from blood. However, plasma I have, it was 30 bucks a week. When you are a poor college student needing drinking money for the week it works well for you.[:D]

    I'd be banging the plasma $$ wagon if they took plasma here. it would cost at least 30 bucks just to drive to where they do pay for it.

    When I was in college, over thirty years ago, Red Cross had the policy that if a person gave blood 15 times, that person and everyone in their immediate family would get blood transfusions for free, for the rest of their lives.
    Well, I had five brothers and sisters, I thought this was a great deal.
    I went down and donated five times. I had a little card that they marked every time I donated.
    Then, I went down a year later to give blood, they said to throw the little card away, that program no longer existed.
    I quit donating blood. Damn, that seemed like a good program, I don't know why they ended it.

    I have donated galloons, but never sold plasma to make plastics.

    I have been donating since I was 18, it is a donation. I usually do plasma or white blood cells, never recieved any money nor have I wanted to.
