What can anyone tell me about a 50 AE. Found a good deal on Freedom arms in 50AE. How does it compare to the 454?

  It's been a while, but I don't think that .50 has the energy or ballistics of the .454. I believe that it was originally developed for the huge Desert Eagle, by IMI.

  The .50 AE is a great cartridge that has never gained the acceptance that it deserves. The case is the same length as the .44 Mag and it has superior ballistics over the .44 Mag in factory loaded ammo. Here is a small comparison:
