check out my new pc, liquid cooled gaming machine
here is the specs
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
msi platinum 965 mobo
2 gig ocz ddr2-6400 {1066fsb}{will upgrade to 4 gigs soon}
msi 7600 geforce 512 agpe graphics card
HIPER HPU-4B580-MS ATX12V v2.2 580W Power Supply
Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA
core2duo is the way to go, i can encode a movie in 6 minutes, while downloading a program, and searching on the Internet without a cough
here is a few pics
look closely you can see the WD raptor is also a clear hard drive you can watch it work

in the dark

close up of the gpu cooler

at 100% the temp will rise to a cool 34C*

i loaded in sisandra bench mark program, and it flies off the chart compared to any amd machine made, only thing that clocked faster was the 26700, but not by much, i hit 89 frames per second on video

well i'm thinking of pulling the liquid cooling, and going with a zalman cooler, i don't like leaving it on, pumps can fail so far so good, but i really want to hook it up to my home security cameras, while i'm away all i have to do is bring up a browser on my work scanner, and i can check out the house while on the road
it looks cool, and no i don't wear glasses, but what is even cooler is how it performs0 -
Man thats cool. Looks something out of star wars.
And I thought I was cool. LOL0 -

It is made for looks
You could build the same machine "internals" for half the price and you wouldn't have all LSD memory inducing crap on it
most useful mod on the whole machine is the water cooled HS, the rest wouldn't make 10 mins with me I'd sell it then buy something that wouldn't put me in a epileptic seizure. [:o)]
Had to fix my smiley
and since this will bump it I might as well put up a cool pic too I don't wanna be out done [:o)]
Since I am not deconstructing the human genome, I put my money where it mattered

no you couldn't, mods including case don't equal 100 bucks, and any decent case would cost the same
and it sets off to the side lights are not even noticed, i chose clear for cleanliness0 -
Love the clear case. Who carries these Newegg? My step son is a comp geek. Actually I have a raptor HD and a bunch of things that I know nothing about. I also have 1 Terabite external that he tells me that I will never fill up. I told him I wanted this Dell to be as fast as he could make it (I have no patience at all) so he did whatever it took. Now I just click and boom it is there. Downloads are like no time at all. I ask him about water cooled and he said that the 5 fans I have on mine would be enough. He put a bigger heat sink on the processor and it has its own fan. Again I don't know exactly what he did. I think he used mine as a guiney pig for his own.
I just keep downloading pictures and I still have over 99% free on the external. Maybe 12000 pictures so far.0 -
Nice unit. It would be more than I need, unless someone some how could write a virtual sex software that I couldn't differentiate from a real woman...Then I'd buy in 0 -

i think i got it from http://www.xoxide.com/ , i had the case for a few years before i gutted it and built this one, and put another one together with the old parts for the wife
liquid cooled is mainly for over clocking, if you run stock with todays processors you really don't need it, most of the newer ones only use 65 watts, some 90 watts, but with the 65nm technology they run cool anyway, spec for spec at the time dell wanted 5,500 bucks for the same exact thing
edit: sorry i forgot to add newegg does carry them too
http://tinyurl.com/98gjue
you can catch them on sale at ether place for 50 bucks0 -
And I just spent 2 grand on a "loaded" XPS!
story of my life, an hour late and a dollar short![:(][:)]0 -
We are on the "cusp" of new game machine time... My husband and brother network to play several games. It started back when Duke Nukem was the thing...went on to Diablo...Starcraft....War Craft...and MANY more. They play all kinds of things. Since there is a new Starcraft coming out they are planning on building new machines to be able to play.
1911a1fan....do you build machines for other people? My brother is the computer guy around here.
kyplumer...sometimes in the store I end up doing trades and currently I have some Klipsch speakers sitting here. They aren't hooked up because I need to re-arrange the living room for them. Maybe after Christmas. It wasn't anything I was looking for, but when they were offered to me I thought I had better grab them up.0 -
