Hitachi power tools?
I've always been a Craftsman guy, but recently bought a couple Black and Decker angle grinders on sale that were utter crap - one was dangerously close to fragging. I've replaced one with a Dewalt and the second might be a Craftsman if the reviews of Hitachi I get here are bad. The quality side by side to the Dewalt was very similiar with the difference being a slightly smaller amp. I guess Hitachi is fairly new to the U.S. market? Thanks, Mike

No direct experience with Hitachi power tools, but DeWalt sidegrinders are Par Excellence. Why not just get another? 0 -
I don't know about Hitachi, but the best grinders I've used were made by Metabo. 0 -
Metabo and Hilti make some of the best equipment.
Everything I've read about Hitachi Powertools has been excellent.0 -
I would agree that Metabo makes some of the best grinders. But the people that sale them here will only sale to contractors.
Hitachi is not new to the market. Just started selling to the big box stores a few years ago.
Hitachi makes some decent power tools. I have both DeWalt and a few Hitachi and I honestly like the Hitachi 4" angle grinders and circular saws better than the DeWalts I have.
If you buy power tools online or plan to. Look over Tool King. For they sale many different brands and have the Factory Reconditioned DeWalt's that carry the same warranty as a new tool but at a much cheaper price. I myself prefer Factory Reconditioned DeWalts over the new. For they seem to last longer and run better.0 -
Hitachi makes pretty good tools...they make an excellent 8.25" compound miter slide saw...and a great roofing nailer...siding nailer as well. You cannot go wrong with Makita as well. 0 -
Their American made tools are contractor grade and very good quality. 0 -

Plus Hitachi power tools have a 5 year warranty! Thats a big plus. Their lithum Ion drills are fantastic. I work in the tool dept of Lowes and Hitachi is a big seller.
Dewalt, Bosch, Makita, Porter Cable and Milwauke are all quite reliable tools. Hilti is big money and beyond the means of most common folks. I think the home depot Rigid brand has a good reputation also.0 -
Hitachi and Makita! Can't go wrong with either one! I've been using both since I started my construction company 10 years ago. 0 -
Milwaukee or dewalt,GOOD STUFF.Havent tried any others. 0 -
Milwaukee by far! 0 -
Milwaukee for me too. I use their hole hawgs and reciprocating saws daily. They are the best I've tried. 0 -

DeWalt- Compound miter saws
Actually, Hitachi makes a much better 10" miter. I own one and we tested it at my wood shop back in CA against DeWalt -- big difference especially when you start cutting angles. Even Makita (I own one as well) is more accurate than DeWalt.
But on the other hand, I didn't run a bench test against say a dozen of saws, so it might have been just one crappy saw [:)].
I am fairly happy with their cordless drivers though, own a whole bunch of them, but thinking of trying out Makita.
On topic: as I mentioned, I have Hitachi miter saw and a their hand planer -- very happy with both of them. Miter saw definitely beats anything I've tried especially when precision is needed.0
