I got a big hog(@275 pounds)while hunting in south Arkansas
he had not dropped his stones though
I don't believe he was a breeding boar he didn't stink like a breeding boar and his tusks were only an @ inch long
he was more like a barrow
any information if you know about this would be appreciated0 -
We have been cleaning up the groves getting ready for harvest. The hog traps have been busy this last week. We caught around 12 hogs and one deer. Don

Anyone know of a place in Oklahoma to hunt wild hogs?Anyone done any hunting there? 0 -
Hello
Many of you have wild/feral pigs roaming
your lands and you take many.
Is there any issue with the quality of meat?
ie.. worms and such, cuts to stay away from?
Thanks-Ron0 -
...I saw wild hogs late today, but didn't have a rifle with me.
...1st: one boar observed was at 200 yds. -I could see his tail swishing-
...2ND: a group at about 600 yds.
...3rd: one boar observed at 100 yds.
...We've had a lot of rain and they are really moving. [:D]0 -

Hello "syruphauler"[:)]
If you are going to hunt wild hogs anywhere I suggest you go to www.dixieslugs.com. Be sure to read the tech notes on the left side of the screen about hog anatomy. Make sure you have enough gun and ammo to handle dangerous game.
If fact read everything and then go to www.beartoothbullets.com and see for your self what the proper ammo will do.
Best Regards[:)]

They are in the Elmore City area west of I-35 about an hour north of the Red River. Also many in the whole Red River drainage. I killed two there last fall. 0 -
HOW LARGE OF HERDS ARE THERE AND HOW BIG OF HOGS!! ARE THERE ANY PLACES WHERE A NON RESIDENT COULD HUNT?
ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE HELPFUL!!!0 -
I have killed about 12 of 'em in Georgia. Biggest was 175 pounds. MMMMM good eating, beats hell out of venison.
I have killed them with a 30-06. I killed 4 hogs with a patched round ball from a muzzleloader. I even killed one with a .45 ACP Colt.
Shoot right behind the shoulder like you would a deer, the hog won't get far.0 -
Contact the Chamber of Comerce folks in the areas by mail or phone and ask for a list of landowners who offer land for hunting. They will mail one out for you. I hunt private property and family property and have a long relationship with them. There are many guide services available on the web for those areas. I don't see herds of them, just loners. Most are about 175# or so. I pay out of state fees as I live in N. Central Texas. It's $200. I am usually deer hunting when I see hogs and I take advantage of the opportunity!
The best hog hunting I find is the Midfield area of S. Texas where my best is 300# and I see herds of 8 to 10. There are a lot of guides in the area as well.
Pick your method:
1. Self guided.
2. Hunt on stands over feeders.
3. Guides with dogs.
4. Bowhunting only- lots of those and cheaper.
The area around the Red River on the OK/Tex border has always been good as well as E. Tx.0 -
