[V]I know, I think twice about shooting my AR anymore, used to be I didn't care it was cheap as easily replaced. now even what used to be cheap WOLF ammo is and can go for $180 per 1000. I never thought it good ammo but cheap for plinking. I had 2000rnds of the Lake City Arsenal green tipped. that I picked up for $179 per 1000 it was a hella deal 2yrs ago now that stuff will easily fetch $500 per 1000.

I'm seariously thinking about getting the lee loadmaster out and setting it up just for some good cheap AR ammo. Even Cabelas cheap bulk stuff is pushing the $200 per 500 range.[xx(]

I guess that is why the whole asile of lead reloading bullets is almost all gone off the shelf of Sportsmans Warehouse in Portland.

The inexpensive bulk lead is not available. The expensive stuff is still there.[:0]

I can pick it up for you and we can work something out. It is at the gun shop just up the road from me and he will set it aside for me if I ask.

I have not bought it because I do not have an AR or anything in .223 yet!

I only know what is on the crate. I was looking at it for my brother on the date on the picture and he determand it was not the right grain for what he wanted.

The shop also has some other ammo cans that have (I believe) 750 rounds each that he is wanting about $200 each for.

    300 for 1560 is a better deal
I bought radway green for cheaper than the 750/$200 (800 for $180)
    Thatll tide me over

I was talking to the range master for the Minneapolis Police Department range a couple weeks ago, and he has had a large order in for training ammo, for his officers ongoing in-service training, and routine qualification. (Minneapolis has over 800 officers) He has been back logged several months now, despite that as a police department, he enjoys fairly high priority from the suppliers, and that his supplier, Federal, is right up the road in Anoka, Minnesota. Military demand is just that large, right now.

It will turn around. When the Iraq thing is down all that ammo will eventually be surplus.

I thought Clinton signed an executive order preventing surplus ammo from being sold to civilians

If there will be surplus and if we can get our hands on it, it will still be going for more than what we use to get it for.
    Just like gas prices.
They see that we will pay for it no matter how much it is so they keep rasing it.

does it make it worth this much? here's another proof that people aren't always all there:

    Current Bid $560.99
    BuyNow! Price was $495.00

Happens all the time at auction sites, i've seen things go on ebay for double the price someone could pay say at amazon for the same exact item.
