huuuhmmmm
got me.
Dont know, it might be lagging really bad?
are you running firefox or IE0 -
What browser are you using? 0 -
What browser? There are a few things you can do to stop animated gifs... one is to press the escape key... the other is in Firefox/Mozilla preferences, you can control how many times they loop (if at all). Not sure what IE does these days... 0 -
explorer i believe where would i look under settings? 0 -
I was going to suggest clear your cache and cookies out, youd have to re-login to everything, but thats what slows your computer down (or atleast mine) 0 -
Sometimes .gif files don't work on my machine, too. I run firefox, but I don't worry about it. The rest still works. 0 -
Look under tools, then Internet Options,............click the advanced tab, and scroll down to Multimedia, and see if "play animations in web pages" is checked or not. If not check it, and you will probably have to reboot. 0 -
Marc is right. Just saw that thing. 0 -

java has nothing to do with animated gifs for sure, neither do cookies or cache.0 -
that box is checked, i supposedly have a strong firewall would this interefer? thanks, also the allow web anima. box has a asterik at the end......meaning what? 0 -
Some firewalls do have built in blockers for anything from pop-ups, to animations,..........you will need to drill into the settings to see if they are being blocked, but short of that, your firewall should not stop an animated GIF, or a "flash" object. 0 -
That simply means a reboot is required if those settings are changed.
Edit: Also like said above,.......be sure to update your Java application.0 -

Doesn't mean anything. Just restart your browser or stop using IE and use Firefox.0 -

Could you elaborate a little, how exactly do cookies (and maybe you can tell us all what exactly is a "cookie") and cache "will make it slow"?0 -

So, how exactly does "Java application" affect displaying of animated gifs?0 -

Animated gifs can be written using java 6...and I didn't say cookies or cache had anything to do with it...0 -
It doesn't on an animated gif file, that I am aware of.....but some of the java based apps as you know. What he seems to be having an issue with should not have anything to do with it.
I'm stumped at this point,.........sure you can continue though, as you have far more info than I![8D]0 -

Is it the case here though?0 -
my java under tools , advanced says this----,java[sun] use jre 1.6.0_ 01 for <applet> requires restart, should i download the new java update? 0 -
Well for what it's worth, I run IE also, and have never experienced those problems. I mentioned the firewall only because at one point ZoneAlarm for instance had a pop-up blocker built in, and it had the added capability of blocking certain "animations",.......don't know if the current one does.
Also some folks use those huge Internet Security Suites, that have too much "protection" in them at times IMHO.
Hope you guys figure it out for him![8D]0 -

Apparently, you can write anim. gifs using Java, though I don't think it's relevant to this case.
You brought up a good point that if some sort of security software is running, something like Zone Alarm or some antivirus or some such -- that could block stuff from being downloaded or ran, at least one of the places I'd check.0 -
You certainly won't harm anything by running the most current Java VM! 0 -

I say that because I went a long time once without updating,.......don't even remember the issue I started having, but updating Java fixed it!

That's rather vague, don't you think? [:D]

Computers are indeed wonderful, it's people that use them and write software that are "wonderful".0 -
Yeah,......doesn't get more vague than that![8D]
