quote:In the suit, Kuck blames the state police Special License and Firearms unit for mismanagement, arrogance and attempting to create its own laws on gun permits.

Not banging on the LEO's here on the board, but this one reason why it's so hard to get a CCW here in CA. There is no law that prevents me from applying for one. I have to justify the need for a CCW to local Law enforcement.

They create their own laws on other issues here too. For exaple, the permit to carry is a "Permit to carry pistols and revolvers". Open carry is not forbidden in any laws. However, if you open carry, and someone complains (and they definitely will around here) they will charge you with breach of peace and revoke your permit.
I believe the same people working on this lawsuit are going to try to get a ruling from Blumenthal about open carry as well. Even if i don't open carry ever, i wouldn't have to worry about getting my permit revoked if someone sees it by accident.
Here's more info on stuff going on here

I find it difficult to believe that just having some schlub SEE your concealed weapon is cause for a Breach of the Peace citation, and to have the CCW revoked while it goes to court is unthinkable!
You Connecticut Yankees are a wierd group to have voted this into law.
I think Kuck has a point, but if he has waited 17 months for a renewal; his point is as dull as the AG's legal mind.

Down here the LEOs actually want me (and other law abiding citizens) to carry.
