Question for doctors or anybody else who might k..
Every so often I have had slight numbness in my big toe(right foot) This has been happening on and off for a few months. My first guess was maybe a pinched nerve, but just this past week it started happening on my left foot as well. It's never any other toes, just my big one. Anybody know what could be causing this? maybe steel-toed boots? Thanks,

could be that, or a clogged artery in your leg. I think the big toe gets affected before the rest of the toes do. how's the rest of your circulation? do you have any numbness in your hands too? 0 -
Peripheral neuropathy is another possibility.
Are you a diabetic by any chance?

Jon..any other problems.??? eye sight changes..thirst unquenchable..cuts or sores that wont heal or slow to heal.frequent urination...are your boots new? tight?..on your feet for long hours?..moody?..irritable?..are there any diabetics in your family?..
think long and hard about these things before you answer..but really make an appointment w/your DR. and have a check up your last one[check up] was when..trust me I was a diabetic for 19 yrs before I had a kidney/pancreas transplant..dont f... around w/your health..Loko..GO MAKE A APPOINTMENT...[;)].....Jon..not trying to scare or freak you out..my gut tells me its your steel toe boots and lacing them up tight+long hours on your feet on concrete..but..think about the things I've mentioned above too..[:)]0 -

Big toe that is numb usually means that a nerve is being affected by either a disease process (ie diabetes) or is a response to an injury that is causing inflammation. If its nerve related look for a cause such as shoe laces too tight or boot laced up too tight. Stepping off steps too hard or uneven. Inflammation takes longer to go away on the feet due to tha fact that we walk and are always using them. First try ibuprofen. if that does not improve the numbness see you doc. that way you have already tried the first thing your doc would have suggested. 0 -

Go see your doc, and get your blood sugar checked ASAP. Diabetes is properly diabetes of the BODY- affects eyes, kidneys, feet. Found out I was diabetic when I tore up my knee, and went in for pre-op physical. There are more of us around than you would think. 0 -
I am diabetic. It sounds as if you are having onset of "Diabetic Nueropathy". Make an appt to see you doctor ASAP. Loss of eyesite comes along with diabetes. Then there is heart attacks, renal failure, and on & on. GO SEE YOUR DOC!!! 0 -

i'm no doctor, but this is very sound advice.i suggest that you follow LOKO'S advice.seek a doctors help now0 -
BTDT; my toes are numb from the balls of my feet forward. It is from having a bad back putting pressure on nerves at L-4,L-5.

Diabetes would most likely according to my experiences with the patients I take care of, would not cause tingling, it would just cause lack of sensation. To me (Im a nurse not a doctor) It sounds like peripheral vascular problems though. It could be any number of things. Is your cholesterol high? Do you smoke? Is the color of your feet the same as the rest of your body?
In short, go see your physician ASAP to nip the problem in the bud.....0 -

I quite agree; however, you may have complications of Occular Rectitis (nerves from the eye get crossed with the nerves in tha a$$). It can give you a crappy outlook on life, in addition to anything else you have. [:D][:D] My cost $186.00[:)]0 -

Jon, google "numb big toe" and click on a few of the sites, I think it will put your mind at ease. Lose the steel toed boots for awhile if you can. Check it out0 -
