    By the end of the war, we HATED the "dirty Japs" or "Nips" very, very
    much - especially the Navy folk - my uncle was one of them who
    survived a numberf of Kamakazi attacks after the Battle of Okinawa.

    It was an 'unconditional surrender' and none/few of us saluted them.

    The same thing also happened in Europe, often.

    When you see General Friedrich Paulus signing the surrender at Stalingrad,
    some of the Germans saluted ... the Russians did not.

    Same with the final Nazi surrender - Patton never saluted a nazi, either.

    Nah, it was John Kerry, he got a Purple Heart for his injured feelings.[:(!]
