Do you have a BIG EGO?
You know, ego - the inflated feeling of pride in your superiority to others ... not to be confused with pride - a feeling of self-respect and personal worth.
I have seen a few postings where peoples' defensive mechanism is quick to make negative things (i.e. piss off, who ask or cares about your opinions anyway) when it does not go their way ... even when the intentions are good (i.e., firearms/shooting safety measures).
We rely (or hide) in this virtual communication continuum that allows as to make those statements. We have become to dependent of it that we lose touch of the reality -- our humanness.
OK, I'm bored and this is my rant for the day! [}:)][;)]

I have always cared about the little people.

Piss off! [;)]
Sorry, couldn't resist.
I don't have an ego problem...it's everyone else that has a problem with my ego.0 -
Doug Wilson,
My old flight chief once said, you have to care about the little people, because they might just have to save you ar$e someday [^].
Zulu7,
It takes too much energy to get pissed off [:p].0 -
Why, yes.
Yes I do.
But in my defense, it helps me to cope with the the vast majority of folks who are simply inferior to me.0 -
[8D]-FEENIX, I agree, especially with the part of your comment about "posters losing touch with reality"--

Now that I have given up all those bad habits and could actually use those Lil tidbits I find they went up in smoke!!! FYI I haven't been able to locate my wife since 1974... Evidently she must have the same symptoms... 0 -

Sounds like a conversation we had in a shooting thread the other day. I don't know if I have a big ego or not. I will say I was just a extremely happy dad with my kids getting so excited about shooting since they hadn't shown much interest with shooting before, and I didn't feel like someone "raining on my parade" and finding negative in everything we did. In my defense though I can't hear your voice or how you're saying things. I'm sorry if I offended you.

Sorry, but no I'm nicer on here then the real world because I can turn this off when I'm done talking and don't have to wait for them to get out. I'm pretty anti social. People = Problems in my opinion.0 -
Who gives a crap what you think?
Not me.0 -
You care cubs, you care deeply about what I think. 0 -
What if it's not ego or pride, just simply true? 0 -
does this answer your question?

Our previous discussion was just one of many. Anyways, it takes a better person to apologize ... and apology accepted. No grudges, let's carry on [^]. Cheers!0 -
I don't thing rudeness on the forum has as much to do with ego or pride for most people.
I't a matter of people who feel inferior and insignificant, needing to make themselves feel better by putting someone else down. And while one deals in an average day with at least a couple of people one wishes to "put in their place," in a polite society, or if you want to keep your job, or whatever, they restrain themselves.
A faceless chat forum is a convenient place to dump you hostility.
Unless, of course, the put-down-ee is a total idiot, and deserves it.....0 -
