Dang wireless cards

I've got a wireless card set up on my son's comp.

The set up windows show that the card is communicating with the router but the computer still cannot access the internet.

Anyone got a clue?

  what brand cars/router?, are both 802.11?, what version of windows?, i assume dsl?, how did you set it up?

  Did you plug the internet into the right port ??
  You can plug it into several ports.. usually WLAN, 1, 2, 3, 4.. it goes into the WLAN port.
  
  
  OR... The computer usually gives you the message, that it's found a new network, but you have to click on it and manually choose "Connect" so you approve that you use that network.

  Linksys, newer type card, older router.
