Death Row
Appearently, here in Calif, the most common cause of death among death row inmates is not execution.
Unlike some other states where there is no death penalty, Cal has a big population of condemned.
The #1 cause here is dying of old age. That says a lot about the painfully slow process of justice, or lack of it.
The #2 cause is suicide. I guess some just get tired of waiting.
The #3 cause is actual execution. It was bumped from the #2 position with the suicide a couple days ago of an inmate.

When they recieve thier sentence to die they should be allowed 1 appeal!
After that appeal is done and held up they should be executed within 30 days!

What about the folks (and they are out there) who have spent literally years on death row only to be exonerated later? Does the one appeal and 30 day limit hold for them? That is the problem with the death penalty. You can't take it back. Dead is dead. What does the state say in a case where they do execute an innocent person? "Opps! So sorry! But here's the body." I once was firmly for the death penalty, but with our justice system as screwed up as it is, not any more. When we have judges sueing dry cleaners for millions over a lost pair of pants, that about says it. Then read the thread that was here about jury duty. So many patriotic citizens here just WILLING to do their duty. Jury of your peers? Yeah right, only if your "peers" can't come up with a lame azz excuse to get out of it. Then OJ Simpson and his money totally revealed the justice system for what it was. If you have enough money, chances are you are innocent, no matter what. Nope, no death penalty supporter here. Fix the system first.0 -

The cases you are talking about are few and far between compaired to the ammount of people on death row!
I will stand behind what I say!
There are too many of the guilty sitting there on our tax dollars that need to be exicuted ASAP!
I think all states need to get more like Texas and not only follow through but make an express line!0 -
