Va. State Police re-issuing again
I was talking to a very good friend of mine yesterday and I was suprised to hear that our state police are re-issuing weapons again, only this time they are getting away from the .357 Sig round and going back to the .40 S&W round. There was no confirmed reasoning behind this, but I believe that it has to do with the recoil/concussion expelled when the weapon is fired and the ability for all troopers to qualify with the weapon. This is good news for anyone who wants a .357 Sig weapon.

I talked to a VA. trooper back in the spring of this year. He said they are issued Sigs in 357sig. This has the smell of "Politics". Upside, there should be a few good Sig's on the market for somebody. 0 -
this has the smell of money savings on ammo to me..ie have you bought any .357sig lately?..40sw is alot cheaper and more readily available..Loko[:D] 0 -
The .40 S&W is simply a better round in terms of stopping power.

I see you've found out already about 357sig ammo prices. It's crazy isn't it.
I did find a dealer that will sell it in bulk for $280 per 1000. Which came out to around 14 dollars a box. That's still not as cheap as 40, but some things are worth the extra dollars.
I just plan to used mine for back packing so I don't plan to shoot it much anyway.0 -
here are some data comparisons from companys that did the testing on both..scroll down the page...price and stopping power and recoil seem to be factors by themselves..Loko

CGR, I can buy it locally for 14.00 a box speer gold dot 125jhp..Loko [:D]..doubt I would use 1000rds in the 31..[:D]0 -
Like I said, the .40 S&W out-performs the sig in virtually every scenario. Big bullets = big holes, 180gr has far more energy than 135gr.[:)]
