Help choose a scope.
It will be for this gun.
The gun is caliber 17HMR.
I had intended to get a silver target scope but can't find anything over 3-9x40 in silver. So I settled at looking for blued scopes.
I ran across two in Cabelas that are specifically for 17hmrs. One from Cabelas Pine Ridge line and another BSA.
Are either of these any good? They are about $150 each.
The one I really thought about was the Bushnell Elite 4200 for about $500 but didn't want to spend near that much and think it would probably be overkill.
This will mostly be a bench gun only but if there are enough squirrels at the new house, may get some hunting use too.

They both seem nice, its a toss up. I would most likely go with the Cabelas brand. 0 -
I have been topping my new rifles with Nikon Pro-Staff scopes . They are right in my price range ( $100 to $150 for 3x9x40 )and they are very clear . Have 6 of them so far and didn't have any trouble with any of them . I was topping my babies with Simmons Pro Hunter series scopes and never had any problems with them either , but now I go with the Nikons .
By the way rugergunz , very nice rifle , I want one of those or the same thing in 22LR ( like the ones for the U.S.A. shooting Teams )

I have heard GREAT things abount the better Nikons. I KNOW great things about Burris.
You MUST have an opportunity to mount the final two contenders on their 'dummy' stock and take them both out of doors to get a real idea of the clarity. Maybe a gun show or a buddy's scope if the retailer will not let you.
SUPPORT the smaller retailers guys...they will let you take them out the door. With a driver's license CC deposit on their counter. This service pays HUGH dividends when all you are saving at Bass Pro/Dicks. et. al. is 10%-15%.

On that sweet of a gun dont cheap-out on the scope. Check out the Mueller APV in silver it is pretty awsome! 0
