CC Permit ? LEOs
Here's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I'm around 40 these days, have my own business, married, 2.65 kids, with no problems on background checks when I buy a gun, with or without my SS#.
I was placed in the back of a police car twice in my life.
When I was 18 I got to spend the night in the poky for being drunk in public. I was released the next morning when I woke up.
When I was around 21 I gave a neighbor boy a ride to a pawn shop in a nearby city. I was going there to look at a El Camino that was for sale and the pawn shop was a couple of doors down. While I was looking at the car that 17 year old boy walked over to the pawn shop with some kind of music amp or something. I did not figure it was stolen because I knew they played music.
I drove over to the pawn shop and waited for him.
Turns out it was a sting and they got my plate number off my car.
A few months later they rounded up the little crooks in the neighborhood and I was one of them, name in the paper and all.
So I turned myself in, was arrested, booked and bailed. I told them my story, the little crook backed it up and the cop said because I had a job, had moved away from the neighborhood and seemed to not be a part of it all, so I would probably not hear any more of it.
I did not hear any more of it, but the little neighborhood crooks all had court dates.
I was told that forevermore when a cop runs my name it will say that I was arrested for possession of stolen property.
I do not know how this will affect my application or how to find out how to provide the information on the application.
Any advice on what I can do or should do.
I'm in Louisiana.
Thanks,
DSM

List it as an arrest but not a conviction. You should not have any trouble.
I personally have 3 arrests on my record (1 DUI, 1 disorderly conduct from a bar fight, and 1 theft from a bad check (my ex wrote the check but because of a joint accout I too was responsable)) all over 13 years old. I had no problem at all getting mine in SC.
Just don't try to hide them. List them up front and give explanations.0 -
They mainly look for violent crimes and especially domestic violence. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. 0
