My co-workers would rather be victims....
....than have concealed carry passed in Illinois. I said I wouldn't get into it with them again but here we go again. I did not start it. I try to stay away from it as far as possible but I was verbally attacked again today and accused of wanting to 'shoot people', because I'm willing to defend my home. My God.
First argument one guy brings is it does not make states any safer. He doesn't want anybody on our streets armed and he doesn't want me armed. He says if somebody comes in wanting to shoot us, we have no chance. I say, FALSE, we would have some chance of making it. I would rather have SOME chance than ZERO chance.
Next argument, "If somebody pulls a gun in self defense, there's bound to be a gun fight." He would rather take his chances if everybody was getting held up than maybe start a gun fight and accidentally have someone else get shot. He'd rather risk it.
Next argument, the infamous "It will never happen to me" speech. I said it's funny how people who are robbed or raped usally instantly take a 180 on how they feel about self-protection rights.
Next guy says he doesn't want to be in a bar with 75 armed drunks around.
Next argument, from a recent story in the newspaper, " What if you ended up shooting the girl who was robbing a store with a BB gun. How could you ever live with yourself again. At least in IL, she lived to see another day." He was worried about the well being of the robber with the BB gun.
Next, they start attacking the NRA for their 'propaganda'. Then you'd think 1 in 3 children in America are killed or injured by their parents firearms in the home. I laughed.
Next, "You wouldn't have a chance to use it anyway in most instances."
They're FOOLS! I said, Well, you're living in the right state then. And he told me I'm living in the wrong state, why do I stay? And we get a long on a normal basis just fine. But that statement really pi$$ed me off!
Apparently, "I have nothing to complain about because I have the right of going through the hardship of packing up, moving, and leaving our families and friends behind so I can exercise my right in another state." That's more feasible to him than having the law in place and he having the right to do nothing since he's not comfortable with it.
Then one starts coming up with more gun law ideas to make things safer. I said we already have so many laws on the books that I wouldn't care if we never passed another gun law for eternity!
I'm totally shocked by the mindset of these people! They seriously would rather take their chances with an attacker and let them have what they want and HOPE they don't kill them than have 'bullets flying'. Sad, so sad.
Sorry guys but maybe you better turn in those blue jeans for some nice dresses. [:o)]
I found a map of shall issue carry states and showed them that we're out-numbered 40 to 10 with more becoming shall issue nearly every year. "Well, it's because of NRA lobbyists and propaganda. The people and the legislators really don't want it." HAHAHAHA!!! And then according to them, every shall issue state's crime rate should be super low in comparison to non-issue states. I told them the argument is ignorant. If 40 states are shall issue, the percentages are going to catch up with some of them!! But they really thought they proved something to me.
The one guy's traveled all over the country and never had any idea how many carry states there were or how many armed people he may have passed by. That was , 'ok' though because he didn't know, "he doesn't live there. It was only for a couple weeks." "We live in small enough towns that we never have to worry and he has ADT."
WOOOOOOW!!!!! [:0][V] Thank God they don't vote!

Sonds like you work with some fools. 0 -
Well, if anything happens to them, they will have deserved whatever they get, and then you can thumb your nose at them and be like, "I bet if you had been armed, you wouldn't have been mugged/raped." 0 -
You're a fool for talking to them. Just mho. 0 -
Man, everytime I read one of your post on your co-workers it makes me so glad I worl were I do. Our conversations at work are usually what grain bullet we like to use in our 6mm BR's or what twist rate we should use for a .223. Of course we are always sharing the latest hunting and fishing lies with each other. 0 -

if i could i would move to alsaska,
i don't know numbers of how many armed citizens there are to unarmed in alaska, I can only quote exsperience.
but a former resident from here moved up their. said he was at the bar having a drink with his wife and a co-worker of hers came by and was shooting the breeze when she found out that he had once held an FFL here. but had not got it their. she looked over both shoulders and slowly slide her hand off the table and when she raised (he says) she had a 44mag revolver that she slide across the table and wanted him to check it out. this didn't go un-noticed and by the time he and his wife got outa there he had met everyone in the bar and their guns.
He told us that he was amazed, there was about 30 people in the bar and he doesn't remember anyone that didn't have a concealed carry.
ANYWAY
there are a bunch of hippy, "it will never happen" buttheads that live here to. Ifn's the good govner of colorado gets his way in Denver it will slowly uwezzz its way out and we willl be the 11th state to be Non issue carry states. its just a matter of time.
this is where i suggest those buttheads should go, it is a good read

You should try working for a US Government agency here around D.C. It is like working for a liberal university. 0 -
Another supposed friend of mine there, tried to justify why the state wants to take high capacity magazines. "Since I"m just a sport shooter, why should I care if I can only use 10 rnd magazines?" He's totally clueless. Totally clueless about how we can't afford to give up anything else and that it's the principal behind it. Told him that the 10 rndrs will be next because when you have bored law makers, they're going to strive for more laws and bans than their predecessors thinking they're really doing something good for the state. None of them see it. None of them pay attention because they couldn't care less.
Hell, we can't even get a state budget passed after 71 days of OT session. Blagojevich was more concerned with arguing about banning hi cap magazines than passing a budget on normal state time. Now it's cost us tax payers 2.5 million dollars extra for their wasteful OT session and we still have nothing to show for it.0 -
And California wanted to outlaw all gun stores from selling those Bad Black Rifles, Then that was the first place they ran to when they needed them. When those two bank robber where shooting up the place. If they had passed the laws they wanted too. Who knows how many people would have been injured or killed. 0 -
I always will uphold my rights to protect myself, and family,........even if I fail, at least I had my "shot",.....so to speak.
It is our right, under the constitution, to have the ability to be armed, and defend our property, and lives.
These folks sound like "knuckleheads", and thank God, I don't have any friends with those views.
Look at the home invasions, and what takes place,...........would you rather have a chance, or wait for the cops?

Vess1 - Just an FYI - A CPL (CCW) doesn't give the holder a license to shoot people robbing gas stations or liquor stores, it doesn't make you a Police Officer nor Deputize you in any way. It licenses you to carry a concealed pistol (weapon) to PROTECT yourself and your property.
Perhaps you can read up on some facts to counteract their false arguments, or just stay away from them.0 -
They just have a completely different mind set than me. If somebody broke into their houses, they'd do anything to appease the bad guy or guys. Anything to get them to leave and run without confrontation. I DON'T WANT THAT AT ALL.
If somebody breaks into my house, I WANT confrontation and I want to end it. Not because I want to be a hero, but because, why should the cops have to risk their lives protecting my home? If they even get the chance that is. And why would anybody want to send violent criminals back out into society to pray on somebody else? Just don't get it. We all have the ability to control situations and put criminals behind bars. It's amazing how men have been moulded into sheep by their surroundings and the media.
I've heard stories that just make your blood boil! There are thousands of violent animals loose in our society. Some are less than animals. Refusing to even make an attempt to protect your family in your own home is probably the most irresponsible thing any real man could do. But I don't think any of them would have the nerve to handle a situation anyway, so I hope they're good negotiators.
Problem is, a lot of these home invasions nowadays, the bad guys want to make it worth their while since they're risking it all so they're liable to do anything to the residents over a period of days.
.....NO WAY!!0 -

I try to pour facts into them every time but when you have 5 people making a rucuss against you at the same time, they don't listen to any reason. They think they know all the facts and I'm just a nutjob.
None of them think that anybody who carries would have the restraint to not shoot somebody after ANY argument. I tell them, you would realize the consequences and you would have restraint until you absolutely needed it. They don't believe me. They just think the public is a bunch of dopes and the cops are super human and trained to have restraint.
Trust me, it's a joke. And I can't avoid them.0 -
Sounds like you have plenty of human shields if the SHTF.[;)] 0
