I hope your right. The lump bothers me because it's there, not because it hurts.

How long does it take for it to go away?

I'm not sure what causes them, but I have had them from time to time. I've had them disappear in a matter of hours, w/o me doing anything.

This sucker has been here for a week!

I heard somewhere that stys are caused from an iodine deficiency.

Last time I had one the Doc gave me some opthalmic cream to put on it and it went away in a couple of days.

Not really a cure, but I have heard a heavy night of drinking can cause them.

I think there might be some truth to it as I have had them a couple times after a night out drinking.

Yeah but if you remember to spit in it afterward your ok. [:D]

May be a little truth in that as bending over to spit in it would get your eyes bathed in the fumes. Which are supposedly good for the eyes.

Don't look at anyone while you got it! [}:)]

(Read many years ago about a pigmy who got hit in the face with the venom from a spitting cobra and his buds threw him down and did the eyewash the natural way.) [:0]
If you can't believe the National Geographic who can you believe?

    Your experiences may vary. [:D]

I used to get those things all the time when I was a teenager. Blackroses has it right. Warm, wet rag. Get it as hot as you can tolerate and slap that sucker on your eye. It will very soon get a "head" and rupture and you are good to go! The last one I had the eye doc cut the core out and I haven't had one since.

My ex-sister-in-law swore that a sty can be cured by rubbing the end of a cat's tail across it. She used my cat's tail on her sty, and it went away, but it probably would have gone away on it's own.

Mother Kristov's cure was soaking a wash cloth in hot camomile tea and placing it on the eye.

Was always told to rub a gold ring on it. Its just a blocked tear duct, so massaging it with anything would probably cause it to unclog.

I've only gotten them a couple of times....but I pulled a few eye lashes out of the affected area and it was gone the next day.

Warm rag compress is what I have used also.
