Henry: This is what happens when you hang out with people of our ilk. You're running with the wrong crowd, and it shows. I think it's getting close to "intervention" time.
f-anon meetings could be in order.[:D]

[}:)][}:)][}:)]Tell her you are going to auction off three others so you can buy the new ones. Then price them too high, and with a look of amazement, declare that you didn't receive any bids. That should keep you alive a bit longer.[:D][:D][:D] 0 -

You sound skilled...0 -
... maybe a trip to the jewelry store will smooth out the rough spots?
By the way, is the couch lumpy?

Psychologists point out that there are stages that people work through. Now it sounds like your wife may be in the preliminary levels of shock. there are only two options. You can discontinue further gun purchases and the symptoms of her maledy will subside, but the cause just lays hidden, waiting to breakout- something like a person with asthma going to the desert. While in the desert the person appears to be well, but with Spring, the pollen attacks and he's worse off than ever. So to stop your practices would only allow her disorder to lay undetected under the surface, where it would fester and build it's immunities as it gathers for an attack. Clearly by stopping your purchases, you are doing your wife no favors and in fact are aiding to her detriment.
The other option is what psychologists call "consequense". This means that when you buy something and she pitches a fit, you point out that what she is doing is very theraputic, and assist her in the spending of energy until she runs out of steam. then you can point out that the consequenses of you getting another gun have been beneficial. She has vented her frustration, and so feels so much better, she sees that gain in the families net-worth, so that financially, you're better off than prior to the purchase, and that you are much happier now that one of the dreams of your heart have been realized.
This is not a one time purchase deal- in order for the therapy to be successful, it needs to be repeated on a regular schedule. If discontinued, there's the danger of relapse. I find it necessary to make a major purchase at least once every year or so, with smaller purchases three of four times during the year. To qualify as a major purchase, at least $1K and better if it's $5 or $10K; smaller purchases would be in the $5C- $1K range. Depending on your interests. this would mean a purchase of a top line shotgun every year or so, and something like a high quality rifle or handgun a couple times during the year, and then a smattering of variety guns as opportunity knocks.
Follow this prescription and in short-order your wife will find no adverse reaction at all, and may even become sufficiently healthy to look forward in anticipation to your next purchase.0 -
And you were SO worried about winning a $60 rifle??? 0 -

If she is going to freak about the gun purchases you made; perhaps you can buy her some jewlery or expensive swiss choclate to make her happy.
....then who knows. [}:)][;)]0 -
When she freaks it really isn't THAT bad. When she calmly nods, takes out the credit card and her car keys, and heads off to the mall is when you're really screwed. 0 -
That's it you're an addict. Just see me for my patented three step plan and you'll be cured.[:p]
Then it's off to wedded bliss.[:D]0
