Do you plan on fixing it up to the origional config, or would you be goingthe performance route. I'm assuming by the pics the engine bay needs work.
Just imagine when you drop a 500 cube motor and performance tranny in that. You will leave all others (except maybe me [8D]) in the dust.
MSD is worth it.

I'm going with the old school, late 60's style hot rod look with the old crager ss mags, sidepipes, and flames. The front suspension is being replaced with a 73 crossmember and disc brakes. The floor pans and both front fenders need replaced, but other than that it is a pretty solid truck. 0 -

My second vehicle was a '63 chev stepside 4x4 with a 348 v-8 and granny 4 speed.

I once owned a 63 fleetside, striped it painted it blac, chromed it out, glass packs w/stacks for the exhaust boy it was loud downtown between the tall buildings.0 -

Had one of those myself and completely rebuilt it from the transmission forward. Had a ball doing it too. I kept my original as possible including rebuilding the ol tired 6 cylinder engine. I loved it but my wife needed a new car and I ended up practically giving it away to get her the new car. The old farmer that bought it was tickled to death to get what was by that time a practically new truck in a working truck form. I hope you have as much fun with your truck as I had with mine. Ah yes, brings back memories. Gramps had a 63', Dad a 69', and I've had a 67' and a 69'. All straight 6's and step sides. Although I
left the straight 6's in them, I tricked them out somewhat. Custom
paint, bucket seats, etc...oh, and white spokes on each.[:D]
Come to think of it, I did drop a 283 in the 67' and sold it shortly

Love them old Chevy's.I like the Cummins 5.9 diesel idea but if it were mine I'de opt for an older 6.9 or 7.3 International and a beefier front and rear suspension.No matter what you do it will be a great driver.Enjoy 0 -

I bought this 1949 Dodge last spring and planned on making it a rat rod. Then my wife and kid wanted a pool, so I put one in for them. I ended up selling it for quite a bit more than I gave for it as/is. There just aren't enough hours in the day anymore for projects like these. 0 -

cowdoc..... There is a market for your truck. I just read an article in Classic Truck magazine about converting a 68' F-100 from the twin I-beam front suspension to double A-arm suspension. Manufactures of these kits would not go to the trouble of putting a kit like that together if people weren't fixing them trucks up and spending money on them, so I think there is definitely a market for your truck. They look really slick when they are lowered a few inches. 0
