Vega$, baby!
Woo Hoo!
I won a writing contest today... first prize is three days in Vegas, including RT airfare, two nights at the Venetian, VIP seating for the Blue Man Group, and $100 spending cash.
Just got the call... and the best news is that we're supposed to fly out on my wife's birthday. She has been bugging me to see the Blue Man Group for almost five years now.

You should have scheduled it for the same time as the SHOT show in February.
I saw the blue man group about 3 years ago in Vegas and it was a good show and the ticket girl let me in on a secret about getting there early and buying the mid priced ticket. You can sit right next to the 140.00 ticket buyers for 80.00.0 -

congrats...but I get the same thing calling 1 800 vegas and any of those numbers, youll spend more on the taxes and extras than to fly you down! its like those time share traps! 0 -

I didn't have a choice as to the schedule. It was part of the prize package. And, that's a good tip if I was paying for the tickets. [:D]
Anyway, there's a good chance that I'll be exhibiting at the 2009 SHOT Show.0 -

Anything that I write for submission is copywrited. The story is property of the Denver Newspaper Agency.
But, you can view the story at http://snipurl.com/1tzti0 -
Man that's going to be a long flight from NZ. What's it like 14 hours or so? All I hjave to say is sleep on the plane and stay awake for the three days here[:D]. You might be sleep deprived but get your money's worth. 0 -
Hah, good read. Thanks.
First, Barbra Mandrel???
Second, I was afraid this story was going to devolve into an argument about something like having a wide stance.[:D]0 -
Congrats, Enjoy! 0 -
I like how you hint at your moral objections to legal prostitutuion. [:o)] 0 -
Hopefully you can afford to bring more than just the $100 they are giving you! 0 -
I just got back from Vegas - the Venetian is awesome! Right across the street from where I stayed, Treasure Island. If you have a choice, get a room with a TI view, then you can get front row seats for the pirate show!
Someone here said there is so much more to Vegas than the strip, well we left the strip, briefly, not so much to see - accept there are more cranes in Vegas than any place I've ever been. LOTS of contruction going on.0 -

Hey... Barbara Mandrell is an awesome entertainer.0 -
I read the story and get a mental image of my brother in law. He lives in Denver. He +400 pounds. He is gay. He has a fairly attractive female friend he travels with to places like San Fransisco or Chicago.
As I read the sorry, I get a mental image of him and her. Barbra Mandrel, fanny pack, holding hand as a cover story, all of this, I'm seeing my brother in law.
A good writer leave the reader to make a connection with what they already know. Sorry, but this story connects the dots to a very large homo.0 -

LOL.
Well, I am in Denver. I'm pushing 200 pounds (never hit it yet, but pushing). I'm not gay, I'm happily married. I just happen to like Barbara Mandrell.0 -

If I lived in NZ, it would be 13 hours to LAX from Auckland, so figure 14 hours would be a good guess. However, I'm in Denver, and it is only a little under two hours. [:D]0 -

You'll love the Blue Man group!! 0 -
Nice! Congrats on the win. 0 -

spanielsells - So why have NZ as your location? Is it to throw off the brain suckers? Using heavy duty aluminum foil as a hat in a nice Fedora style? Or are you more of the Panama style? At the Blue Man Group show that hat would get you noticed and they may pull you on to the stage[:D]. 0 -

If I had to live somewhere other than the USA, it would be NZ. I was blessed to take a two-week trip there a few years ago and I just fell in love with the place.
As for why NZ is my location, the better question is, why not?0
