I heard this on the radio, so it must be true
Forty percent of all traffic accidents are caused by drunk drivers. This means sixty percent of all accidents are caused by sober drivers. This means your best chance of getting home safely is to get drunk.
Before you jump on me with both feet, this is just another example of what you can do with statistics.

Surveys and statistics are slanted to whomever is taking them. If deep down you want the answer to be one way you will only poll or gather stats from sources that will favor you.0 -

I guess I better grab another beer then[:p][:D][:p]0 -
I've heard that 100 % of serial killers were either breast fed, or bottle fed as babies. I demand we put an end to this practice now ! 0 -
That stat has been around for quite some time and the experts don't dispute it too often. The arguement is that if an accident is caused by a sober driver and it sucks in a drunk driver then it is still the drunks fault for had he been sober he might have seen it coming and reacted quick enough to avoid the accident.
On a lighter side do you remamber a few years back when a leader within the Madd organization caused a wreck which killed someone and she thought see should escape being punished because she was sober... Seem madd thinks that is you are sober and have an accident it is just that an accident, and tough doodoo for the victim.....0 -
It's all Bush's fault.

Actually that terminology is a bit off. The information I have seen is: Forty percent of all traffic accidents are caused by involve drunk drivers. Non the less even when a sober driver causes an accident with a drunk driver they tend to be worse than if both drivers had been sober.
It is also said that 1 in 5 drivers on the road between 10 pm and 2 pm on weekends are impaired. Another note; while .08 is the accepted and legal benchmark for a drunk driver it is possible to prosecute someone at a lower level with the proper evidence. As I understand it .04 is generally considered impaired, .08 is supposedly the point where impairment is at a significant level to cause problems.0 -
40% of the 60% of accidents is caused by inexperienced teenagers. 0 -

Did you mean "2 am"?
As a side note, did you know that studies have shown that 38.4 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot? [;)]0 -

drunk drivers should be punished severly for their reckless and irresponsible (and often deadly) actions. if this thread is suggesting otherwise then may God strike a drukn driver upon all of your loved ones.... 0 -

Let me get this straight. That poster wants God to put a drunk driver on the road and direct him to kill everyone who disagrees with him. Is that right?[?]

That's rich! Don't run him off. I can't wait to see what he says next!0 -
It's all how you work the numbers. 0 -
The underlying fact regardless of the circumstances are all traffic accidents are caused by motor vehicles, there for all should be removed from the general public before more Innocent lives are taken by these evil contraptions (especially the black ones that carry a high capacity of people, you just know they kill many more). 0 -

I'll use that at my next DWI jury trial.
