Van 1, feral hog 0

In an unintended effort to rid eastern Georgia of feral hogs I have successfully lessoned their number by one this morning. Running about 60 down the highway when the nasty old boar hog decided he had the right of way. Wrong thinking on his part. I almost managed to miss him, but caught a head shot with the edge of the bumper. Hog went to meet his maker. No real damage to be seen on the van except for some hair and a couple of scuffed spots. Sure could have been worse.
Closing thought, I guess those Caravans are a bit tougher than I thought. swamp_thing[:D]

    Ok, first I will say that upon further inspection there is a small crack in the rubber bumper pad and a very small dent in bottom of passenger door. Of course, on a new van this will be not cheap. Still say the results were much better than I anticipated. Now, as for cubs response, I agree!![:D]

    Check with your insurance agency.

    I had that eerie feeling that we were going to hit a deer or something one day. I called the Ins Agency and asked what my Comprehensive deductable was. It was $500. That's a lot. I changed it down to $50, my 6 mo payment went up $36 for two new vehicles. That day we had a huge rock thrown up and cracked the windshield in the Element. Glad I changed it.

    As a former insurance adjuster, I'll tell you to not wash the car until the insurance company or their body shop has a chance to look it over.

    Some companies require that they see either hair/blood or some other evidence that this was an animal hit instead of a collision.

    I use to own a 4-cyl 1984 Plymouth Voyager (basically the same)van. Here's one for you ... why do they make a 7 passenger version?





















    So the other 6 can help push it up over a hill [:p].

    This is our second caravan. The first one was a 1981 and when we sold it about six months ago it had 240,000 miles on it. Failed us once at 187,000 for a head gasket and again at about 190,000 for a fuel pump. It was without doubt the most dependable vehicle we have ever owned. This one is a v-6 where the old one was 4 cylinder. If the new one is even close to as dependable as the first one we will be very happy. And by the way the hog only caused 1300.00 worth of damage. swamp_thing

    Nice try [}:)]! I had over 250,000 miles on mine (without any major problems) before I traded it in.

    Sometimes lady luck smiles on us.

    Odds are very high that a full frontal impact of a 60 mph Caravan with a hog would result in a rollover.

    Good news spanielsells, if that is your mother in law you have been relieved of the baggage. You can now seek out a replacement mother in law or just go lawless for that matter. There is a silver lining to everything![:p]

    I'd opt to go lawless for now. The wife is the one who laughed the hardest at my comment.

    The wife is home for a week... so I do need to be careful about what I say.
