A friend of mine called and said he has a paratrooper SKS for sale. I have a few SKS's but haven't heard of these. What is the difference and how much is one worth? He is asking $225.00.

    I had one back in the early 90's, it was set up with a folding stock and a 30 round mag. Great rifle and it was very accurate. I shot it in Speed Challange and I even started shooting High Power with it. As long as it has been properly cared for you cannot go wrong with it.

    The only real difference to me from a paratroop version and the rifle version is the barrel length. Paratroop barrel is 16 inches. I love this gun in the woods. With core locs or soft lead heads it is a excellent deer gun in the bush.

    The paratrooper SKS was never a military rifle configuration but was something Norinco did and @ 150.00 you got yourself a great deal.

    They also had to shorten the Bayonet for obvious resons that you already stated[:)]

    How hard is it to make it accept AK mags? Or is it possible? Anyone have a link to a conversion kit if possible? I have a few 30 round sks mags but I have a buttload of AK mags.

    is Norinco the only maker of the paratrooper

    i have one that my daughter deer hunts with that has a real blond looking stock. it shoots good also

    As far as I know Norinco was the only major maker of the SKS that offered a paratrooper .
