    Yeah.

    To protect us from...

    Uh...

    Meteorites!

    Yeah!

    That's it!

    I share your skepticism.

I'd really fear the UN with that kind of armament.

    and the skeptics come out.
Would you rather just wait for the big honkin' space rock and then spout some oatmeal about how it is "God's will" for everyone to die???

Did you guys even read the article? They're asking UN to put a system in place, yes. It doesn't involve anything that sounds like a weapon. All they want is the ability to put a spacecraft up that can travel close enough to the asteroid for enough time to give it a 'gravity tug.'

IMO, the UN is a useless organization meant to do nothing more than line the pockets of corrupt politicians and make the world a socialist Utopia.

So, in most cases, if the UN thinks it is a good idea, I tend to think it is a bad one.

The UN has accomplished very little in terms of positive good for the world, and the UN does not have the interests of Americans and well-being of our citizens, businesses and constitutional/civil rights at heart.

    Oh, B.S. Not even close.

I'll have you know that the most powerful gun in the solar system is just one mere planet away. The Venusians have their sky shield up so that it looks as if their planet is nothing more than a greenhouse-gas filled wasteland. But, Elvis, JFK, Jimmy Hoffa and Kenneth Lay, who fly around in the UFO that I service every third Tuesday, tell me that the Venusians are a very advanced society. They have a Class VI disruptor which can pretty much nullify our best nukes and anything else we can build.

The Ames vertical gun relies on a 0.30 caliber light-gas gun and a powder gun to hurl 800 lb projectiles up to about four miles per second...

And this is a bad thing? Could we arrange for Schumer and Clinton to be there when this happens?
